I tried 5 different bottles and this one was the BEST by far.

All I can say is that my baby had been only BF for 3 weeks by the time I tried one of these and he had no problem taking this bottle and going back to the breast.
Amazon Customer
The nipple on this bottle is the most like a breast I've seen, it is very soft and also shaped like a nipple and breast.

I am the daddy of a breastfed baby. Mommy went back to work and we were struggling to get our 2 month old to take a bottle. She understood milk was there, but had no idea what to do with the firm nipples that most bottle companies (even the breastfeeding friendly ones) us with their bottles. On a frustrated shopping trip to in a rainstorm I happened upon the Lansinoh mOmma bottles. They are nothing short of amazing. Who would think to make a nipple and bottle to simulate a real breast, you know that silly thing that children are designed to feed upon through millions of years of evolution. They are brilliant. The nipples are soft yet don't collapse while the bottle is squat and allows for a feeding position that mimics breastfeeding.

Thank you Lansinoh!

I'm a Lactation Counselor, and the shape of the nipple is amazing for breastfed babies. It's soft, flexible, and very breast-like. I've used it with a couple of different infants, and their latch looks just like an ideal breastfeeding latch. Unfortunately, the flow of the slowest flow nipple is 2-3 times faster than breastfeeding, so it's not a great bottle to use with a baby that is struggling with breastfeeding.

I would highly recommend this bottle for a mother whose baby is breastfeeding well, and is either introducing a bottle for the first time -or- whose baby has refused other bottles. DO NOT use it if your baby is struggling with getting enough milk at the breast or it could exacerbate this problem. Try MAM, Born Free, or ThinkBaby slow flow bottles for a more appropriate flow rate (3-5 minutes/oz).

I got this bottle for my exclusively breastfed 6 month old who was never introduced to a bottle as a young infant. We tried several other bottles and nipples and he would never latch. After reading the review from the lactation consultant I decided to they these.

At first I was impressed with the bottle because he would latch 50% of the time - a huge improvement from never latching. Sadly, after several weeks of practice I was never able to get him to latch reliably. I left him with grandma while I attended a wedding and he outright refused to latch for her.

They are very annoying to clean. They are dishwasher safe but the interior lip of the bottle always traps water even when placed in the dishwasher completely upright. I never felt like they were completely clean since leftover dishwasher water was sloshing around in them. Even when I hand washed them and set them out to dry the water would pool on the lip.

Milk gets trapped inside the bottle lip during feedings. I struggled with milk supply so pumped milk was like gold and it was frustrating to see milk wasted. The only way to get all the milk out is to hold the bottle completely upside down and swirl it around to encourage the milk off the interior lip. Not exactly a natural angle to hold a bottle while feeding a baby.

I never did find a good way to warm milk inside this bottle (it is short and fat). Instead, I warmed the milk in the glass bottle that I pump into and then poured it into the mOmma bottle.

My son started on a straw sippy cup (

This is my first Amazon product review--the Lansinoh mOmma worked so well under desperate circumstances that I felt compelled to let other parents know.

Our exclusively breastfed 11-week-old daughter took to the Lansinoh mOmma with two weeks to spare before I had to go back to work. We had tried several different standard, wide-neck "breastfeeding", and orthodontic silicone nipples (Tommee Tippee, Comotomo, Avent Natural, Breastflow, Nuk, and Dr. Brown's). She latched on the mOmma right away--she took 2 oz. with her first feeding (some fussing), 3 oz. with her second feeding (minimal fussing), and 4 oz with her third feeding (no fussing, and even fell asleep as she would at my breast!).

We first introduced a bottle at 5 weeks, but the most she would take from the first two bottles we tried (Tommee Tippee and Avent) was 1 oz. We wish we had tried the mOmma first, as it would have saved us both the cost of assembling a bottle 'collection' and the worry that feeding would be difficult for her caregivers.

We observed two problems that the above mentioned silicone nipples posed for our baby: 1) The nipple would slide around in her mouth; or 2) The nipple was so long that she would gag on it. Both prevented her from latching properly. I should mention that we did not try latex nipples--some parents on the Nuk bottle reviews cited success with this as softer and grippier, and it would have been our next try had the mOmma not worked.

The three features that distinguishes the mOmma from other bottles is 1) the shorter and smaller nipple which gently slopes to a wide base; 2) the matte area around the base of the nipple which encourages proper latching; and 3) the short, round bottle shape.
