4.0 out of 5 stars A Useful Overview of the Rare Earth Elements, June 28, 2007
This review is from: Lanthanides Tantalum and Niobium: Mineralogy, Geochemistry, Characteristics of Primary Ore Deposits, Prospecting, Processing and Applications : Proce ... for Geology Applied to Mineral Deposits) (Hardcover)
This practical book covers the mineralogy, geochemistry, and prospecting of REEs. It also focuses on the characteristics of ore deposits and the processing of ores. One chapter alludes to the time when the US accounted for half the world's REE production.

Although now somewhat dated, the chapter by Preinfalk and Morteani provides a good summary of the industrial application of REEs. This includes a detailed element-by-element survey of the rare earth elements and their uses.
