2.0 out of 5 stars LAOS: War and Revolution, April 25, 2008
This review is from: Laos: war and revolution (Harper colophon books, CN 221) (Paperback)
Having read this book, it has a very anti-war, anti U.S. involvment attitude. It totally ignores the North Vietnam Army's involvment in Laos and makes it look like it was the Royal Laotian Government(RLG)/U.S. against only the Pathet Lao(PL) with the RLG and the U.S. as the bad guys. In fact, the serious fighting was the Hmoung against North Vietnams Regulars. You do learn many facts about the RLG and its history. It was a good read, good anti-war propaganda, laced with only a few facts about the war as it actually was. It was worth the read, although, it was irksume to me how the authors ignored the huge North Vietnamese involvment in Laos itself. For an acurate history of the secret war in Laos, I would advise reading Ken Conboy's "Shadow War: The CIA's Secret War In Laos"
