5.0 out of 5 stars What a relief! Great for laptops and desktop keyboards, too.
I've been using my Laptop Legs for several weeks now and don't know how I got along without them. It's much more comfortable typing on a laptop when you can angle the keyboard up a little.

If you own a desktop Macintosh, you've probably tried jamming something under the keyboard to tilt it a little higher. I know I have. With the Laptop Legs you get two pairs...

great idea, poor execution.

the anti-skid patches only contact the surface of the desk when the legs are closed.

the fatal flaw, however, is the adhesive used to attach the legs to the laptop itself. remember: these legs are touted as the solution to the computer getting too hot, solving the problem by letting more air circulate under the machine. great idea!

now check out how you're supposed to remove the legs if you decide to take them off: first heat them up with a hair dryer, then peel them off. here's an interesting point: a laptop that gets too hot will produce just as much heat as a hair dryer, ergo the fatal flaw. when the computer gets hot, the adhesive softens up and lets go, and the laptop slides off the legs. even if the legs are not extended, the computer will slide off the legs, leaving it uneven and unstable.

maybe i can find some other kind of adhesive to use, one that won't be totally undermined by the very heat it's supposed to alleviate. if i can find something that works, i'll change this rating to a 5.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great for large laptops, but before you buy..., December 1, 2005

Consider buying it elsewhere.

The legs are perfect for large laptops. My own is a 17" widescreen. And although there are three vents on its underside, making placement asymmetrical, it is not so much so as to affect the stability of the laptop resting on a surface. There is a definite improvement in airflow and typing elevation (Two different elevations). Good airflow keeps your processor and hard drive cool, improving the life of the machine.

If you own a desktop Macintosh, you've probably tried jamming something under the keyboard to tilt it a little higher. I know I have. With the Laptop Legs you get two pairs in each package, so I use one on my iBook and another on my Apple keyboard. Finally, I can adjust my keyboard more than the meager 1/4" I get with the built-in height adjustment.

I found this product to be essentially useless. After finding an area on the bottom of my laptop that would leave the battery free to remove, I attached the legs. It kept the laptop elevated, but also not well balanced when it was open. After a week or so, the adhesive broke down and the legs fell off.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great idea, poor execution, November 3, 2005

This review is from: LapWorks Laptop Legs (Personal Computers)
I had a Gateway laptop eight years ago (with a 13.3" XGA screen) that had the exact same feature built-in. It was incredibly useful and well-designed - whenever I put it on a table, I'd lift up the back of the notebook, slide my index fingers under it and click two buttons which pop out little spring-loaded plastic "legs". The angle made it much more pleasant to type on, and of course a good side effect is better ventilation. I've never found a notebook since which had this feature, not even Gateway's newer models.

So I was understandably excited to buy these legs and try them out. While the idea is great, the execution is poor. These legs, even when retracted, measure 1/3" high! Which means that if you have a slim notebook, like I do (1.2" thick), applying these legs will make it seem a lot thicker. Unappealing. The footprint is large too (2" by 1.75"). My laptop's underside is covered with air vents, stickers and screws, so finding an appropriate spot large enough to apply a leg was almost impossible, let alone two. The plastic used for its construction is third-rate. Overall, pass on this product.

ps. my package included one pair of legs only, unlike the previous reviewer who received two pairs.

2.0 out of 5 stars COULD Be Great! If Only the Glue Wouldn't Melt, October 5, 2009

LapWorks Laptop Legs

The feet are a GREAT idea and work well--except that they don't stay on. A fundamental flaw with the glue means they'll only last a few months.

Pros: These laptop feet will work fantastic for about 3-4 months (give or take), but they don't stand the test of time (see "Cons" below). The plastic is sturdy, and the design--except for the adhesive--is very well thought out. While the feet were still stuck, they offered the best solution to the problem, "how do I easily raise my laptop to a good working height without carrying around a separate laptop holder?" A separate laptop holder is as nerdy to whip out in a coffee shop as it is inconvenient and bulky. If these feet only had a better adhesive solution, I'd give them five stars.

Cons: Ironically, the instructions suggest that to loosen the adhesive and remove the feet from your laptop, you might apply heat. Therein lies the problem! The bottom of my laptop GENERATES heat; thus each time the laptop is on, it's slowly loosening the adhesive that keeps the feet stuck to the bottom. If you have a laptop that can really mitigate heat, perhaps yours will last a bit longer. The difficulty is that once the adhesive is melted, there ain't no going back: the glue is a rubbery, smooth-surfaced adhesive patch that can't just be "stuck back on" the feet. If it weren't for the glue issue, this could be a great product.

Just as descibed. Very few items on Amazon due exactly as they describe, but this hits the nail on the head. Keeps my Macbook Pro cooler when doing heavy graphic/photo work. They are easily removable, without heating or anything, but they do not come off without heavy pulling. Does not affect size of notebook.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed, November 13, 2011
This review is from: LapWorks Laptop Legs (Personal Computers)
When I received these legs I was very excited. I accidentally placed the legs too far from the back edge because of the location of the useless existing "legs" on my HP Pavilion (which are 3/8" rubber and nearly impossible to remove). This made the laptop unbalanced with the legs closed. All I had to do was remove them, which was easy and re-attach with another adhesive, which is actually permanent, so I never had a issue like others with the adhesive releasing from the battery temperatures, but I don't mind permanently attaching them b/c I will never own another laptop or keyboard without these babies on there. I finally found a place that worked well; one of which is actually on the battery itself. Once reattached the benefits were well worth everything

I am really pleased with the usefulness of this product. The only problem I have with them is all the attention I get in the library when everybody wants to know where I bought these from. I always let them know how much of an improvement it makes with the battery temperature and the most important benefit to me is the adjustable height feature, which helps when typing for long periods.

Overall great product at a great price !!!!!

This product is wonderful. It comes with easy to follow installation instructions. I have purchased sets for both my laptops and a set for my daughter's laptop. Using these legs helps keep the computers from overheating due to the increased air circulaltion around the computer. I will most definitely buy these again should I ever get another laptop or notebook computer. I also recommend this product to everyone I know with laptops.
