More About the Author

When Catherine isn't traveling she is teaching, researching, or writing - or some combination of all three! She is fascinated by history, government, economics, and Shakespeare. She never tires of learning and teaching about those topics - and tries to make them come alive for students and adults alike.

She fell in love with history when her family spent 5 1/2 years in Wuerzburg, Germany. During that time she wrote and published her first book, An American Looks at Wuerzburg. Now, after more than thirty years of homeschooling her own twelve children and teaching classes for hundreds of other homeschoolers, Catherine has written over one hundred books - from novels to annotated timelines to a variety of student workbooks to help make education more fun and more effective for homeschool parents and classroom teachers alike.

One of her first loves is Leonardo da Vinci; her books on him are enjoyed by both students and adults and include:
*Leonardo the Florentine (historical fiction)
*Leonardo: Masterpieces in Milan (historical fiction)
*Leonardo: To Mantua and Beyond (historical fiction)
*Leonardo da Vinci Topical Study
*Da Vinci: His Life and His Legacy (non-fiction)
*Exploring Da Vinci's Last Supper
*Kit and Cathy in Search of Leonardo (book 10 in the Horsey and Friends series)

As a Government Club Adviser and teacher of high school economics and the U.S. Constitution, Catherine has authored a number of books about those important topics, including:
*A Conservative Primer on Government and Economics
(also released under the title, There Ought to Be a Law - to please her students!)
*Understanding the Electoral College
*Understanding Presidential Elections
*The Philadelphia Convention: In Their Own Words (letters and journals from the convention)
*Understanding (and Teaching) the United States Constitution
*A Brief Financial History of the United States

Catherine has been writing topical studies and lapbooks for herself and other teachers (homeschool teacher and classroom teachers) for decades now. Some of her titles in that genre include:
*Presidents Topical Study
*Lapbooking Made Easy (the new Expanded Version is especially helpful!)
*Topical Studies Made Easy (again, with a new Expanded Edition)

Catherine travels regularly, with and without her children. She wrote her first travel journal when she was nine years old, when her family traveled from Panama to the United States. Since then she has traveled extensively throughout the United States, including following the Lewis and Clark Trail, and making several trips to Europe. As part of those travels she has authored an entire series of travel books, the Horsey and Friends series, where their travel stories are told by a stuffed animal!
*The Adventures of Horsey in Panama
*Bandit Goes to Washington
*Alligator Al's Adventures in Florida
*Henrietta Visits Greenfield Village
*The Lewis and Clark Expedition: Jaime-style
