Lapinator - Lap Desk for Computer (Black) (1"H x 13"W x 12"D)

As a computer addict, I tend to sit on the couch, watch TV and have my laptop on my lap for hours at a time. The lapinator is comfortable to hold on my lap and I no longer get uncomfortably hot holding the laptop. A must have for computer nerds like myself.

I bought the Lapinator as a gift for both my mom and my dad. They both use their laptops while they watch TV all the time, so I thought it would be a great gift idea. When I opened the box, I was very dissapointed at the product I was looking at. It is pretty much a piece of cardboard sitting on top of some foam padding. I would have been better off taking an old pillow and gluing a piece of an old box to the top of it.

The picture makes it look slick, but it's lame. I returned both of them immediately.

I use my laptop almost daily and needed a way to keep it off of my lap. As many people don't know, a laptop is not really made to be used on you lap but on any desk or table. It's supposed to be a portable computer. Your laptop can overheat if it cannot "breathe" properly. That being said, I needed a way to use my laptop on my lap. I love the Lapinator. It keeps the heat of the computer away from my legs and puts the computer keyboard at a more comfortable angle. It's lightweight and thin enought to slide into my computer bag.

This was the first lap desk I had purchased and I was initially happy with it because it kept the heat off my lap. However, shortly after I realized that the stick on bumpers aren't high enough to allow adequate air flow to circulate and keep my computer cool. My computer became so hot the glue on the bumpers melted and they started shifting. My computer would still overheat and shut down. I threw the lapinator in the trash. I consider it a waste of money.

I've had my lapinator for about a year. It is comfortable on my lap, and keeps the heat away from my legs. However, the airflow between the lapinator and my laptop is negligible, and the laptop still gets very hot, which can cause electronics problems. Plus, most of the heat my laptop generates is toward the bottom of the keyword, where there is even less airflow. Also, the angle of the keyboard would be more comfortable if it was higher -- and this would also put the screen at a better height for viewing.

I think the lapinator could be improved by moving the small rubber "feet" to the bottom edge, and providing much larger rubber feet to go at the top -- 2 to 3 times the height of the small ones.

I was all set to buy a laptop desk/table from my local bookstore when the customer behind me told me her negative experience with that same desk. I put it back and began to search for one online. The reviews I read helped me select this particular lap desk and I'm so glad I bought it. It's comfortable, very lightweight, and keeps my computer's heat off my legs. The little "prongs" which lift my laptop up for ventilation are a great touch. Unlike other lap desks with a beanbag-type bottom, the bottom surface of this one is sturdy, but still very comfortable. I've sat with this product holding my computer on my lap for two hours and it never got too hot or uncomfortable. For the price, I think it was a wonderful investment.

At first glance, this product looks very cheap and doesn't seem to be worth the $30 you paid for it; however, it is a great product and lasts forever. It is very light and it fits exactly the size of my laptop, so it doesn't bother me when I have it on my stomach when I'm laying in bed or when I have it on my lap. It comes with little plastic "knobs" where you can stick on the pad. You place it where you want it, so the air can flow.

I have been using this product for years. I have bought 2 so far because when I bought a new laptop I just wanted new things, so I bought another Laptinator and gave the old one away.

I have the old version with the Velcro thing on the back of it to hold the cord. I'm not sure if the newer versions have it, but I think they should get rid of it. My laptop cord is on the side, so that Velcro is just collecting lint.

Overall, I recommend this product if you want something simple and light.

I would not recommend this lapdesk if it's comfort and convenience you're looking for. The attachable mouse-pad is a nuisance and the mouse tends to slide off. The bottom of the lapdesk is bulky and lays uncomfortably on your lap. For what you get I feel it's overpriced and not very convenient.

Just wanted to let you know that I love the Lapinator. I have both a desktop and a laptop but I use my laptop 99% of the time and have been doing so for 5 or six years on a daily bases. I've thought many times about what I could use to set the laptop on to get it off my lap but never really came up with a good idea. I've only used the Lapinator for two weeks but wanted to let you know that it's just what I was looking for. It works GREAT!!!!!!! I did do one thing different from what was suggested. I attached the rubber feet to the bottom rear of the laptop. That way I don't have to try to position the laptop the same place every time. It sits right every time I place it on the Lapinator. Thanks!

Works like a charm. It is REALLY light and you could carry this in your briefcase.

The rubber feet do a nice job of keeping the laptop from sliding (and I have a very heavy one!)

The only improvement they could make is how you attach the rubber feet. It's just an adhesive and the feet can be torn off (which happens sporadically).

No big deal if you lose the rubber feet, since any hardware store will have washers or bumpers that you can use as replacements.
