This review is from: Laptop Battery for Dell XPS M1330, 1330 (Electronics)
I bought this battery a couple of days ago (April 2010), to replace my original 6-cell battery that died after 2 years of continuous use. At $100 less than the Dell original ones looks like a no-brainer, but beware of what might happen.First, the size is not exactly the same as the Dell original one, meaning that some of the plastic contacts apparently are slightly thicker than the Dell's one, so you need to apply some force in order to plug it or get it out. Not a big issue given the price difference. The big problem came later. After installing it my computer time was reset to Jan 2000, and from then on every time I turned off my computer the time either stopped (if plugged) or was reset again to January 2000 (if unplugged). Even after I re-installed my previous battery, or I run my computer without any battery at all, the clock just stopped once I turned off my computer, (the reset to Jan 2000 only occurred when this new batter was installed). Apparently this is a common problem with non-original batteries and Dell computers, as I found in several blogs people complaining about it (mainly thinking it is an OS thing and not linking it directly to the battery). After some testing and further reading, I was able to recover my computer. As I understand it now, what apparently happens is that this battery drains the coin cell type battery that the computer has inside to keep the BIOS clock, and the computer is not able to recover from that faulty state. What I did was to open my laptop and disconnect the coin cell battery for 5 minutes. After that I reconnected it, and plugged my computer with my old battery. Apparently that resets this stuck state in which the BIOS was and the clock starts working again fine. Every time I plugged this cheap battery the clock broke and I had to re-do this proceeding to make it work again, so I'll be returning this battery and pay the extra $100 to get a real Dell one. Maybe I just was unlucky, but I don't want to test my luck again and find that I can't recover my computer... So beware!

I ordered this battery for my Dell XPS M1330. It works perfectly. My old battery was down to 20 minutes - now I am back to 4 hours! Very happy!!! And a lot less money than the authentic Dell battery. A good deal!

I ordered this for my XPS M1330. It arrived promptly and in nice packaging. I was very disappointed that it wasn't an actual Dell battery--I thought I remembered the product description claiming that this was a new Dell battery, but either I misremembered or the description changed. It looks exactly like a Dell battery, but the label is off-brand. Given its performance, I'm suspicious that it was a refurbished battery, but I'm not technologically savvy enough to really tell.I installed it according to their directions, but when I tried charging it (I repeat: according to their directions), it didn't accept a charge. It showed that I was plugged in, but the battery charge didn't increase at all. When I called the company, they said to let it run down completely initially, rather than trying to charge it before running it down. I followed their directions, but never got above a 27-30% charge. After trying this for 3 or 4 days, I gave up and returned it. They returned my purchase price promptly, but I'm out shipping costs both ways and very annoyed by the whole experience.

Shortly after I began using this battery my computer's internal clock broke and I brought it to several technicians and they couldn't figure out what was going on. Then one day the computer wouldn't turn on at all - I put in the old battery (original Dell) and it works now - sort of- still don't have a clock, I have to manually reset it every day. Wish I'd paid more because my computers broken now. And I have to buy a new battery - so basically $50 down the drain.

When I first used this battery my computer showed an hour and 55 minutes of battery life which turned out to be less than an hour before I got a message saying that I better plug my PC in. I figured the battery just needed a full charge, however, I've had the batter for several days now and I can't even get more than 60 minutes of charge with this battery. I keep my brightness at about 85 percent when I'm using my battery. If I had known that I would get less than an hour of battery life on a full charge I would have just bought the regular battery from Dell. For me this battery was NOT worth the money.

Bought this battery for Dell XPS M1330. After 3 months the battery lost performance and I had to charge every hour. After a month it stopped working completely and I had to order another battery. The vendor would not replace the battery or offer partial refund.

Purchased this item early Feb, received it approximately mid Feb, the battery was DEAD by the end of July. A complete waste of money. I thought I was getting a bargain, as the battery was much less than the OEM version, but in this case you get what you pay for. Contacted the seller, however there was no response.

Let's see...an original 56Wh Dell battery (this is NOT a third-party knock-off) for 1/3 Dell's price. What's not to love about this deal?! Whether or not it provides enough endurance is your call. As an XPS M1330 owner, I can say this battery provides about 3 hrs of power. If you want about 4.5-5hrs, go for a nine-cell.

This didn't work out too badly as it was far less expensive than an original and it lasted about 8 months. I had a Dell XPS M1330 and the battery fit snugly into the computer. Battery life from continuous use was about 1 and 1/2 hours.

This was a great value for the price but unfortunately it did not fit my laptop. The company took back the item gave me a full refund PLUS 15 percent for my trouble. Great customer service.
