I ORDERED THIS FOR A CHRISTMAS PRESENT AND WHEN IT ARIVED I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE THE EXCELENT QUALITY WOOD THAT THIS DESK WAS MADE OF. IT WILL MAKE SUCH A FINE ADDITION TO OUR LIVING ROOM THAT I AM ORDERING 2 MORE. (MAINLY SO THAT MY KIDS WON'T FIGHT OVER IT ON TV NIGHT.)

I REALLY LOOK FORWARD TO BEING ABLE TO SIT IN MY EASY CHAIR AND WORKING ON MY COMPUTER WHILE RELAXING.

My excitement quickly went south. Shipping was prompt. Packaging was great. I had a good feeling that I would be impressed. But...
I was surprised at the low quality of the product.
The wood is barely above plywood grade. It has the consistency of the cheap wood frequently from Asia and has the softness of pine. The wood grain is not attractive -unlike the picture. The stain and finish are rough -- there are scratches from low grade sandpaper and flecks of dust in the finish.
Assembly is poor. Some screw heads were stripped and not tightened. The screw holes look like they were made with a chisel rather than a drill - uneven, differing depths, ragged edges, non-round holes.
If I return the product, I'm out about $32. Thus, I'm stuck. You'd be better off putting a board on a pillow. Expensive lesson!

I gave this to my mom for a gift and she loves it. It is very high quality construction and beautiful as well. I bought it for her originally for writing on, but it is so useful for other things as well. Anything you do while sitting can be done easier with the lap desk.
