TR Anniversary - 4.5 stars / 5.5 stars - read on as to why...,

I am still playing TR-Anniversary, so here's my thoughts at this point.
The graphics are absolutely amazing. I have played every single TR for Mac since the first and it's hard to believe how detailed they are from what they once were (at the time, I used to think they were amazing then, but now, WOW). ~ I can't wait till the next TR becomes available for Mac! ~ For those who have played TR before, the plot will be familiar. The storyline may also be familiar. I have two main criticisms... I highly recommend playing the Manor first... Get used to the new controls (which are customisable as before), but more importantly, get used to Lara's movements. I find her movements frustrating to get used to, such as her direction of movement in-conjunction with the direction in which she faces. It's progress though and takes some getting used too. Lara is much faster moving than previously where you could be more precise with her movements, such as jumps and walking (note: in Walk mode she will now fall off cliffs, so be careful). I really miss the Look mode as I enjoyed investigating. I will also add, her foes are also faster moving, but having said that she seems to run & swim slower and doesn't jump as high as before, which actually makes her appear to be more real. Having said that, interactions with her surroundings are again, WOW. For example, when Lara moves objects, they move in 3D, as in reality and don't follow a grid-like pattern. Picking up objects is easy (I remember a previous game where it was a bit of a precise issue). Lara has some really awesome movements which she has either, never had before or are so vastly improved. I give TR Anniversary 5 stars because 4.5 stars is not available. I am deducting .5 of a star for adjusting to her new movements as noted above and I give 5.5 stars to the graphics, the detail, her interactions with her surroundings, her new moves and everything else. I'll say it again, I can't wait for the next TR for Mac !!!

Yes, it runs on the MacBook...if...,

I have a new MacBook 2.2 Core 2 Duo with the GMA X3100 graphics chip in it, and the game runs just fine.
The only time it slows down a bit is when you enter a large portion of a map and it has to dump it all into the memory all at once, like when you first enter the field before the T-Rex battle. The game will slow down a bit for a couple of seconds then pick right back up after the map is loaded. Of course, you can futz with the graphic options to minimize the effect of that happening, but I like cool graphics, so I'm not going to!

Tomb Raider Anniversary for IMac Computer,
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary (Video Game)
I have a IMac 20" with standard features including the Leopard 10.5.5 OS, a 2.66 GHz Intel Duo Core 2 processor, 2 GB of Ram, and a ATI HD 2600 Pro graphics card. This seems sufficient to run the game okay. Every so often, you will find the screen will freeze as the computer takes more data from the game disc. It's a slight annoyance but nothing major. By the way, the game disc must remain in the computer for the game to be played. Also be sure you purchase the game that is compatible for MAC computers as the others won't work.
I have not completed the game but am pleased with the playability and graphics so far. It runs pretty smooth for the most part. With about 8 hours of play into the game, it has froze up twice, requiring the computer to be turned off and restarted. When that happens, the game resumes at the last check point you have reached. Fortunately you don't have to start from the very beginning of the game. I am not a kid and have not played any of the Lara Croft Tomb Raider games before. I found it very beneficial to play the Lara Croft Manor section first before choosing the regular game. Playing the Manor section first teaches you how to use the various moves you will come across when playing the main game. The Manor section is actually quite challenging in itself. There is no way I could complete this game without some walkthrough help. When I get to a point and can't figure out how to proceed, I simply quit the game. It will auto save at various points or you can manually save the game at any time you wish. Then go onto the Internet and Google Lara Croft Tomb Raider Anniversary Walkthrough. You can choose from any number of walkthroughs that are available. They will explain what to do to complete each level. Then go back to the game and proceed. I am not a heavy gamer. I bought this game because it had a very good rating from other players. I have found a lot of good entertainment for the money spent on this game. Besides all the running, jumping, swimming, shooting, etc, there are puzzles to solve and hidden items to find. Good fun all around.

I guess I would be considered a dinosaur in todays world of video games. I've always had a soft spot for the Tomb Raider series, right from the beginning. I haven't begun on this "latest" MAC edition of Anniversary but soon will be.I say "latest" because the folks at Eidos don't really give **** about MAC users. These days it is rare to find games put out for us MAC folks,so when a "new" version of Tomb Raider comes out for in MAC format, I take notice. Raise your voices MAC'ers and long-time Tomb Raider fans! Get Eidos to remember the rest of us!

Even with the graphics cards found in MacBooks and Mac Minis, this game works great. Simply lower the gfx settings slightly. It still looks beautiful, and runs smooth. I recommend it to anyone who's enjoyed the series in the past, or someone interested in the franchise.

I really enjoy this game. Have had no issues running it on my macbook pro. The only drawback is the controls. I am playing this with a game pad. I thought that the controls would be similar to other versions of TR I have played. It makes it challenging and frustrating at times.

This is the most impressive game I have seen to date. The graphics were outstanding when played on the 8C MacPro with NVIDIA Quadro FX. It will blow you away. Intel GMA NOT supported. I recommend 512MB GDDR3 or more.

game plays beautifully on my Macbook Pro 13 inch, 2.4GHz, GeForce 320M, 4GB of memory. Very fluid and fast, no skipping or lags. I really enjoy the game, i bought a USB controller to play it but i find that it plays very well with the keyboard as well.
The only downfall is that you HAVE to use the CD to play the game, it wont let you install the game so that you can just boot from the hard drive without the CD. I was hoping to not need the CD because i travel a lot and taking a CD is annoying to keep track of. Otherwise, the game is great!

Very good looking game with all the excitement of the original versions. The graphics look fantastic on my MacBook Pro, 2.6 Ghz w/512MB video RAM. This game is a lot of fun! If you are a Tomb Raider fan I highly recommend it!

I love the Lara Croft series and have played every Mac port available. I would have liked to enjoy this one as much as the others BUT the programmers did not include code to assign my joy stick switches to the various movements. Also, the past several Mac versions (and I understand the PC versions as well) do not make turning and moving separate functions- if you turn in a direction you automatically start moving in that direction. As a result, I would not purchase this nor any future versions of the series because I no longer enjoy playing with so little realistic control of Lara (just imagine if every time you turned to look at something you suddenly were required to start walking in that direction- can you say 'hit by a bus' quickly before expiring). Guess I will get out the older games and redo them... :-(((
