Croft Manor: Overview: Welcome home, Lara! Set against the rolling hills of the quaint English countryside, Croft Manor has been in Lara’s family for hundreds of years. It seems like the only other resident, Winston the butler, has been with the family almost as long. He pops up from time to time but hasn’t really set the place up for habitation. A huge pile of crates from a recent adventure have yet to be unpacked, there’s a troublesome problem with the water (there isn’t any), and an exhibit chamber is still undergoing restoration! After some initial investigations, it appears that one of the rooms—the music room—is thoroughly sealed. To open it, you’ll need to locate some weapons, explore the garden maze, and locate two items you need to insert into a huntsman statue waiting in the middle of the maze. On the way there’s ample time to grab eight Elephant Artifacts and view the Relics you’ve collected on your adventure for Natla. There’s even time to change outfits, read snippets from your books, and perhaps listen to some music…if you can work out how to open that door!

This guide is flawed. Don't get me wrong, it was great to have when I actually needed to use it, but it also hindered my progress at various points when I did need to consult it. I own the entire Tomb Raider series and all their respective guides and know that each guide has an error or two with gameplay strategy or layout. This one had quite a few mistakes throughout and I had to resort to going online numerous times to one of the fan-sites to figure out what to do. Hopefully Eidos and Crystal Dynamics will turn to BradyGames to do the next Tomb Raider game guide, as the Legend guide is the best and most accurate Tomb Raider guide ever printed with one eensy flaw that did not make any difference whatsoever.

The poster with this guide is nifty, though.

I had to agree with the fact that this guide is not flawless. It has mistakes such a part telling you to jump to a "sloping platform" in Peru just to find out you die if you do. I like the fact that all the extras are integrated in the walkthrough. You don't have to go to a special section on the page as the guide for Underworld or have to flip to almost the begining to find it like in Assasin's Creed's guide. The guide even suggests how to avoid some stuff if you are into beating the time trials. I was very impressed with this guide. If you want more detail, then what fun would playing the game would be?

Just went through the mansion and I can already see why other people are saying it could be a little bit better.

Perhaps more pictures and slightly better descriptions would help make it easier to follow.

A good reference, might get frustrating if you're using it to guide you through everything.

It is very helpful in playing the game. This is the second guide that I have purchased for the Lara Croft games. I recommend it highly to all game players.

The used copy I bought through Amazon using the account of a friend of mine, via salmonriverbooks reseller, mentioned "wear to edges, no marks of writing, a good reading copy". It did not mention that some material that was detachable from the book was not there, and the poster that was supposed to have was not there. One thing is used, and another one is incomplete. Instead it had the back cover of the guide for Tomb Raider Legend. Weird. Not sure if I should buy used stuff again from Amazon.

The guide was somehow useful, but it lacked at one point. When I had the Medusa star puzzle, the advice of the guide was not useful. I went to Youtube to see how it should be done. The text is somewhat confusing some times. When you have to describe with words, you need to build a mental picture in the reader, and that does not happen with this guide.

I am giving it 3 starts as it fitted the purpose of having a guide to go through the game. Incompletion not stated at Amazon takes one star back. Not useful for all points where I get stuck, takes another one back.

Shipping was fast and although it was used and described as slightly used, the front cover was torn up a bit, but nothing that scotch tape couldn't fix so no problems there. It also came with the tomb raider poster as advertised which was in excellent quality. All pages were there and good condition and shows all the locations of artifacts and other hidden tresures. Definetly worth the price.

I started out on the PS1 Tomb Raider games & had to use those guides. The PS2 games are more difficult, until you get used to them,& a step by step guide is essential.I still go online if I have to,but it's still a comprehensive guide through this new format.

The guide is quite helpful. It really tells it to the point and how exactly to find the relics and the artifacts right up to the point and how to get into every nook and cranny. This is a great guide. Its so good and helpful. I don't miss it for the world.
