5.0 out of 5 stars Hot BDSM Romance Written from Two Sides
I don't usually like romances, but this one is different. Written from two points of view, it really got my attention and kept it the whole way through. This book was GREAT. I loved reading the two different points of view, Dom and sub, and knowing two different people actually wrote it. That made it a truly unique experience. I hope these two plan to write a sequel,...

I loved reading the two different points of view, Dom and sub, and knowing two different people actually wrote it. That made it a truly unique experience. I hope these two plan to write a sequel, because as far as I'm concerned the story was just getting started! If you like rough, sexy BDSM, exhibitionism and just plain ol romance, you should definitely check this one out. LOVED IT. Two thumbs up!

If you like the writings of J.W. McKenna and Claire Thompson, you'll love this collaboration between the two. Both authors have similar styles, so their story about the exploration into BDSM between a loving couple rings true. I really liked this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Humiliation, October 16, 2011

This review is from: Lara's Submission: (formerly titled Bird in a Cage) (Paperback)
Our heroine Lara, is not settling for a vanilla life, when her calling is as a submissive individual. She yearns and searches for a better understanding of her inner needs to realize her sexual dreams. With her online research, she realizes that she is not alone in this kind of lifestyle. Her husband has convinced her that she is a freak, for making such requests of him. After divorcing, she meets a man that gives her a chance of having her dreams realized. Her selective partner is also inexperienced on the subject, and cautions Lara about them both experimenting along the way and making mistakes. He gives her a "safe word", to use, if the going is getting unbearable for her. He seems undecided if he is taking Lara too fast or too slow. The staggered humiliation involved, is mostly what troubles Lara most of the time. Lara doesn't see the connection or necessity for the humiliation. She keeps balking and keeps getting punished for it. She lollygags into it when she indulges. This is done to continue this lifestyle, and not because she enjoys it. Personally, I agree with our beautiful heroine. Most of the humiliation could have been omitted, and it would have still been a cute storyline. I fully enjoyed the plot and the path it took.
In the final chapters, things take a dramatic turn, and we find our lovely, and helpless Lara, bound under her angry, drunk husband, taking the role of a Dom. A role he knows little about but wants to avenge himself against Lara for hurting him when she left him. Gagged, chained, and beaten, the scene envisioned, turns into a sweating worry for the reader. Things are very hairy at that point, and I was ready to jump into the story to help poor Lara.
As far as being in the cage, she is in the cage once, for a few hours in the early chapter.
I loved everything about this book. Even the cover model is very unique and distinctive. A female author and a male author merging together makes it different. Personally, I think Miss Claire Thompson could have written it by herself in the same mode used, and it would have had the same effect. Sadly, not many books are written that way. I liked it a lot.
