5.0 out of 5 stars cool toy September 8, 2010

I bought this toy traffic light for my eight year old nephew. I checked it out before I gave it to him
and it looks pretty neat. The lights blink in a random sequence. They also appear to be typical bulbs you could
get in a hardware store- the kind of bulb used in a night light. This is definetly something a young boy, or
grown-up one, would enjoy.

4.0 out of 5 stars FUN DECORATION November 24, 2010

I bought this to go in my son's room, which is a car/truck theme. It is fun, bright, and he likes it. It is a roll switch on the cord- so it is easy to operate. The lights blink in a random pattern and can sometimes be a little busy... but overall wonderful addition to his room decor.

Bought this one to create a Toastmasters Speaker Timer light. This light fixture includes three lamps that blink each of the green, yellow and red lights on and off randomly. This is *not* what you want, of course. What you want is to be able to cycle through the lights with a rotary switch whose first position is "off", whose second position lights the green light only, and whose third position lights the yellow light only, et cetera. To do this, you will need some equipment and parts.

IMPORTANT: ELECTRICAL HAZARD!! I recommend asking around your Club to see who knows how to do this sort of thing. If you show them this review and they understand it, they'll probably be able to do it.

1. Soldering iron
2. Solder
3. Digital multimeter (DVM) or a continuity tester
4. Radio Shack 275-1386 6 Pole Rotary Switch $2.99
5. Radio Shack 274-0407 1-3/8" Knob Radio Shack $1.79
6. 3 clear 7-watt Night Light Bulbs (Home Depot has these in a 4-pack for about $2.00)
7. Insulated copper wire
8. Drill and drill bit (to mount switch to back of box)

You'll need to use your DVM to determine which poles on the switch connect to which so you can use the switch to select the lamp you want to illuminate. Mount the switch to the box. Re-wire the lamps' center connectors to go through the switch to select the lamp. Re-wire the lamps' base connectors so that the lamp's base connectors are simply wired in series (daisy-chained) to the power source from the wall. Replace the lamps with the ones you bought. Have fun!

4.0 out of 5 stars depends on its purpose March 30, 2011

I purchased 2 of these for my children who both have Autism. They have both shown alot of interest in the traffic lights and my daughter was "stuck" on them for a while .. I purchased thinking they blink slowly from one color to other and in actuality they are strob and sometimes not all the colors work .. its hit or miss .. BUT kids were happy and like having them so to me worth it .. had I known they were as fast flashing as they are I would not have purchased them. The on and off switch is stiff and hard for the kids to turn on and off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blinking 3 sided traffic light October 31, 2010

The light is great and came to us timely from the shipper.
We used this light to go with our theme of Cornish Rex Cat~ The Racy Cat* at the Meet The Breeds Cat(and dog) event in NYC in Oct.
Our theme was checkered black and white racing since the CREX is the fastest domestic cat. We are celebrating 60 years of CREX in 2010 and for the first time ever our booth took Best Booth prize also. I think the light helped alot as everyone noticed it. I would recommend getting this light over the smaller one that is also available as this one has replaceable night light bulbs.

3.0 out of 5 stars Unique lamp May 7, 2012

Durability: 2.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 2.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
My son just got a race car bed as his first "Big Kid Bed". Along with that we made his room race car themed, so this light fit in perfectly. The look is great and unique. However, it feels a bit cheaply made. It took some jiggling at first to get all the bulbs come on, and they tend to make a noise as they blink. The blinking is VERY intermittent which is pretty distracting when trying to settle my son down for the night. I wish there was a feature to keep it from blinking. Or if it blinked in order that would help make it a bit more educational as we could teach "stop, slow and go". Overall though it's pretty cool and my son likes it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what my Nephew wanted! October 24, 2010

For his 6th birthday, my nephew asked for a "RED LIGHT". It did take a little longer to deliver than most Amazon purchases and was slightly more expensive than the price now but well worth waiting and paying for. My nephew loves it so much that he will not hang it on the wall but packs it back in the box and carries it everywhere he goes. So far it works just fine even traveling quite a bit. I wish every gift pleased the recipient as much as this one did.

2.0 out of 5 stars Broken and Didn't Get to Really Use May 29, 2012

I was looking for a stop light for my 5 year old son's room. I was expecting a larger light, but it went well with the cars theme. It doeen't have much weight to it, so it is easy to hang on walls. My son enjoyed falling a sleep to the rotating lights, however there are only two settings to the blinking lights. For a while it sat on my son's chest, but unfortunately only after few weeks of use the red and yellow light no longer blink. Really disapointed, but you get one you pay for.
