Our large portable chicken coop is designed for the backyard and urban farmer. It is an affordable and space efficient home for your backyard chickens. Modeled on the classic chicken ark that has served British hen-keepers for decades, the coop provides a healthy, predator-proof home for up to 5 medium laying hens or 7 Bantams.
All Handcrafted Coops are made using plantation-grown, renewable Douglas Fir timber. Douglas Fir has a natural woody scent that repels insects, keeping your birds lice-free. All coops are stained with a non-toxic, low VOC, weather resistant paint.
The Portable Chicken Coop covers less ground space than other chicken coops. As well as space efficiency, the covered run gives both hens and costly feed good weather protection. The traditional design satisfies your birds' natural instincts, allowing them to go up at night to roost.
The coop has two full-length doors allowing easy access to the lower run for feeding and watering and lets chickens exit and roam free. Two nesting boxes, located at each end of the ark, have their own external egg collection doors. A removable side door allows for easy cleaning of the upper roosting chamber. The ladder can be raised to secure chickens from predators.
All Chicken Arks come with sturdy carrying handles for easy portability. Moved every couple of days, your chickens will mow and fertilize your lawn.

Great design, easy to put together in about 20 mins with a screw driver and very attractive. It's great that it's so lightweight but the wood and wire is delicate. Tough enough for the chooks but probably wouldn't stand up to much weather or a determined predator or even a kid leaning on it. In fact, despite fairly good packaging, there were several dings and one of the flimsy top floor panels was already de-laminating when it arrived. It should be easy to replace panels and wire with heavier duty materials but it's a pity that it should be necessary.

Don't buy this coop if it rains where you live. The roof leaks. I have to tarp it to keep the bedding dry in the nesting areas. The description says weather proof but it is not. The wood soaks up water like a sponge, then the doors stop opening and closing properly. We aren't even through the first season and the big solid door on the end has completely gone to pieces.

This is an aesthetically lovely chicken coop, with a practical design, easily assembled. However, as another reviewer noted, there is a swelling issue with the drop-down doors that can make them very difficult to open. I would recommend waterproofing at least every exterior surface with something like Thompson's Water Seal before assembly. The wood panel directly above the side wall, which opens to give access to the entire length of the coop, is splintering where the tongue of the panel enters the groove above it. This should NOT be happening, especially not in a coop that has had less than 2 months of use. I also think that trying to fit 5 non-bantam hens in this coop is a stretch. My 3 big Australorps have enough maneuvering room to be happy, but if there were 5 of them in there, they'd be miserable, and so would I. 4 big hens, maybe, but not 5! And I see the price has increased by $100 since I ordered mine- not sure I'd order this again, especially at a pricetag of $900.
