This is a great pot! You can do the white boiled chicken for ten minutes and not have to worry about 20 minutes of simmering as you would with western pots! It's also great to make arroz con pollo and other Latin American stews and rice dishes. I don't think it bakes all that well since it's designed to go on top of the stove (Chinese, I hear, don't bake and they think it's a waste of energy to use this pot in the oven, don't ask!)Customer service from this vendor is fabulous. They sent me recipes, a wooden spoon, and a back scratcher. Dog got the back scratcher, they promised they'd send me another one! If you are into Chinese cooking, like I am since the Chinese restaurants are all buffet style for gringos and their families, do yourself a favor, get one of these extemely reasonably priced Chinese Clay pots, better than any LeCreuset Dutch ovens I have spent a lifetime being snooty about!

Excellent cookware for authentic Chinese cruisine, could be used to cook the traditional Yunnan chicken stew recipe.
chicken pieces, leek (white part), tiny pinch of salt, water, everything in pot on medium heat until chicken tender.Simmer when water reduce.

I am very pleased with this product. Made a stew the dominican way with chicken peas, pork,pumpkin,potatoes and put it in the oven for about an hour. Very well cooked and table ready. Recommend.

There is nothing wrong with the pot except I found out after I bought it that my local Asian grocery store sell it for half the price.

I got my sand pot based on Paula Wolfert's book Mediterranean Clay Pot cooking. It arrived promptly and the company was prompt in answering questions I had plus included many Asian recipes with the pot. It has performed better than my expectations. I followed the recommendations for soaking and seasoning before the first use, brought the gas flame under it up slowly. A small crack in the glaze on the inside bottom did just what the shipper told me to expect -- it actually reduced in size and almost totally resolved with soaking and the first use. I am looking forward to visiting San Francisco and finding the chinese restaurant that specializes in Clay Pot cooking.

I purchased three - two as gifts and one for myself. One of the pots arrived with a chipped top and after only two or three uses, I am noticing a hairline crack deepening on the lid. I am disappointed in the quality and have low expectations for how many more uses it can withstand - even with kid-glove handling.

Only problem is, I can buy these of about $4 at the local Chinese grocery in Chicago. But they are great for cooking.
