I got this for my mother, who is an avid gardener. My father put it together very quickly. (assembly is pretty straight forward). When he first looked at it, though he was perplexed. He said, he didn't quite get the decorative nature. What I'm saying is that if you put this together and think it's ugly, put the plants in. It makes all the difference. Now my dad thinks it's gorgeous and amazing.

My mom the gardener saw it right away and thought it was fab, so it's a great gift.
