Great work
This is a classic work and a great refernce manual for anybody who is serious about learning the view camera. It may not be as comprehensive as some books, but it is all the more accessible for it and it covers all the basic techniques. Highly recommended.

Great if you're new to photography, but...
... too much of the book was dedicated to general photographic concepts (exposure, filtration, etc.) rather than specifically large format photography. As I've been shooting 35mm & MF stuff for years, I'm already acquainted with Photography 101 and was looking for a comprehensive reference specifically for LF photography. If you're an experienced photographer...

For LF photography, you'll have to know the technical (optical) side. This book teaches you that, what LF can do and 35mm cannot do. In such a thin book, it included a lot of useful material. This is a compiled book with contributions from several people.
It is worth reading and learning. |
