DECENT CRYPTOGRAM PUZZLE BOOK,
By
This review is from: Large Print Cryptograms (Spiral-bound)
I have not had the same experience with this book as the poster with the title of "Disappointing". I have not found any letters that are encoded to be the same as the actual letter in the word as of yet. Then again, I am only on Puzzle 75 too so I may encounter it later. So far, I have encountered easy to intermediate puzzles providing me with some funny quips. The only problem I have found with my copy of this book is pages 14 & 15 are the same as pages 16 & 17. Meaning puzzles 13-18 are repeated. All in all I have had fun with this book and would recommend it to those who are just looking to have an entertaining experience with a puzzle and not worry about stressing out over figuring out a letter. If you want hard cryptograms, I recommend "Hard To Solve Cryptograms" put out by the National Puzzlers League and published by Sterling.

I love cryptograms. I'm as addicted to them as some people are to Sudoku. But I found this book very disappointing. Not only are they all the same level-- extremely easy-- but many of them contain letters that are not in code. In other words, instead of writing an "e" as, say, an "s," the cryptogram simply uses an "e." Where's the fun in that? I also found some of the solutions (quotations from famous people) somewhat dull. What I really like is "Funny Cryptograms," one of those page-a-day calendars. The book "Humorous Crypotgrams" is also pretty good.

Excellent format, very enjoyable, plus the spiral binding makes it comfortable to work with. I look for that.

This book is great because it has funny and interesting puzzle answers. The down side is that it is a little more difficult than the Cryptoquips you see in the Sunday papers. These puzzles give you one obscure letter and sometimes it is just not enough to get you started. However, if you cheat and look at the answer you can take the first word and work the puzzle out from there. If you are an advanced Crpto specialist you will enjoy this book. Beginners will enjoy it too but may have to look at the answers in the back of the book for assistance.

I bought this for my mother who has macular degeneration. She always used to like cryptograms but has not been able to see well enough to work them lately. This has big print and nice space between the lines for working the puzzle. She loves it.

I enjoy cryptograms. It is difficult to find them sometimes......especially in large print. I LOVE this book!! One of the nicest things I can say about it is that the paper it is printed on is wonderful! Easy to write on, easy to erase. The cryptograms subscription I had for a number of years went to terrible, recycled paper and it is difficult to write on and all but impossible to erase. Try this one! You'll love it!!!

I have nothing but cryptograms to focus on. It's a fun book so far, and the large print really helps.
