5.0 out of 5 stars KEYS-U-See (Really See)
Three keyboards sit in my office; one is actually backlit, one so dirty the keypad no longer can be read, and another with tempermental keys that kept causing spelling errors. Keys-U-See offers a great alternative - big black letters against a bright yellow background. While designed for the visually handicapped, it has a great uniform feel, needed no programming with...

2.0 out of 5 stars Keys you can see, but that don't always work...
Purchased this for my husband, who is legally blind. The large lettering on the keys and contrasting colors are great, but the feedback from the keys is extremely poor. The keys feel "mushy" when trying to touch-type. Also, sometimes he would have to press a key several times before it would actually type the letter/number. Maybe we got a dud keyboard and the...

Three keyboards sit in my office; one is actually backlit, one so dirty the keypad no longer can be read, and another with tempermental keys that kept causing spelling errors. Keys-U-See offers a great alternative - big black letters against a bright yellow background. While designed for the visually handicapped, it has a great uniform feel, needed no programming with Vista, and is just about perfect for the non-professional typist. I Love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars This keyboard really make a big difference!, January 28, 2008
This review is from: Keys U See Large Print US English USB Wired Keyboard - Yellow Keys with Large Black Print Characters / Letters (US English) (Health and Beauty)
I purchased this keyboard for a family member who suffers from macular degeneration. It was quick and easy for him to install, and the black on yellow makes a big difference. The hot keys allow it to be set up for ZoomText features without the added cost (more than double) of a ZoomText brand keyboard. Highly recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great keyboard for vision impaired, May 28, 2008
This review is from: Keys U See Large Print US English USB Wired Keyboard - Yellow Keys with Large Black Print Characters / Letters (US English) (Health and Beauty)
The keys have extremely large high contrast lettering that is easy to see in just about any lighting condition.

The keys have a fairly long travel and reward methodical typing. A touch typist might be frustrated with both the key noise and the length of the keystrokes required to type at speed.

The keystrokes appear to be designed to help avoid bad or inadvertent key hits, which makes it a very good keyboard for the purpose.

It installs easily on XP and appears able to use a generic Microsoft driver even for the volume controls and extra function keys.

Is solidly made, not a cheap piece of flexoplastic on it.

This is a specialty keyboard for those wih poor vision. Although it does make it easy to see in extremely poor light, an illuminated model would probably be more satisfying to someone who just needs poor light capability and types fast.

Hopefully I can find someone locally to donate mine to, as it is a tad slow for even 50 wpm.

Maybe we got a dud keyboard and the springs/sensors for some of the keys were shot. If you usually touch-type and only sometimes need to look at the keys, I dont' know if I would buy this keyboard. There are other large print keyboards available from other manufacturers that might have better feedback, although they are not as inexpensive as this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Low Light? No Problem!, June 11, 2008

This review is from: Keys U See Large Print US English USB Wired Keyboard - Yellow Keys with Large Black Print Characters / Letters (US English) (Health and Beauty)
For the comfort of another family member, I often use my computer in a very low light situation. When I saw the Keys-U-See keyboard in a catalog I decided to try it. For me, it's fabulous. The contrast of the BRIGHT yellow keys and black letters makes everything easy to see. Sure, I type by touch, but there are times I need to use those special keys. The LARGE letters are very helpful too. After noticing my keyboard (it's difficult to miss), two friends have ordered the same item and are very happy with it. By the way, the Amazon vendor's price was lower than both the catalog price and the manufacturer's price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keyboard by DeWalt, March 15, 2009
This review is from: Keys U See Large Print US English USB Wired Keyboard - Yellow Keys with Large Black Print Characters / Letters (US English) (Health and Beauty)
We ordered a black-on-white one of these for my mother, and this black-on-yellow one for us. She has macular degeneration and loves her new keyboard, we just have eyes that are getting a little older and just wanted something easier to see. I think the black-on-yellow is higher contrast than the black-on-white, as the folks at KeysUSee have said. I would probably have gotten it for my mother, but she found black-on-white easier to read.

It is wonderful, we love it. It's easy to install, it just uses a USB port instead of the regular keyboard connector. You do need to disable or uninstall your keyboard drivers before turning your computer off, connecting the new keyboard, and turning the computer back on. This prevents the keyboard from malfunctioning due to software conflicts.

These keyboards are especially nice because the keys are all in the same places you are already used to them being in. Some keys do have abbreviations on them so they could enlarge the print (NumLock is NL). Also, if you are used to the backslash key (\) being under the Backspace key, and an "Enter" key that is nice and wide on the homerow, you might find yourself hitting \ when you mean to hit Enter for a while (like me) until you get used to it. This was not enough for me to take a star off, especially since many regular keyboards feature the same arrangement. I just happen to prefer the \ beneath the Backspace.

Another plus: my husband is a maintenance supervisor, and to him this keyboard looks like it was made by DeWalt. He's right.

Since 1999 i have had very low vision due to wet macular degeneration.
scaring in both eyes; one with no vision one with less than 50% vision.
this keyboard is a godsend. the black on yellow is the only way to go.
i purchased 3 of this item. if you need an adapter from usb to ps2,
they can be ordered online or purchased from, B---B-- local retail store. one thing you should be aware of is that there is a push in and slide
switch on the backside of the board. the switch must be all the way
up towards the top of the keyboard otherwise none of the keys will work. i noticed this while testing my second keyboard. thanks to amazon.com
for showing us the way to get a better keyboard!

5.0 out of 5 stars OMG One of the best purchases I ever made, June 10, 2009
This review is from: Keys U See Large Print US English USB Wired Keyboard - Yellow Keys with Large Black Print Characters / Letters (US English) (Health and Beauty)
I have eye issues, and had pretty much given up on E-Mail. Yeh, Yeh, I know, I should have learned to touch type, but who knew. When I opened the box, it was like someone turned on a light. With this ketboard and a good sized LCD moniter, I am good to go. I would recommend this product to anyone, even if you do not have eye issues, maybe someone who might be visiting you does. Since this keyboard's profile is exactly the same as any other keyboard, it is a Win Win. If you are not concerned about the special bells and whistle keys at the top, it is plug and play for Windows98, and Windows ME. I just can't say enough about this product.
