-Unless you know where the nest is you can't beat the wasps
- Never put an insect trap in YOUR yard... You attract more! You want set a piece away from you. That said, you could bait it with savory in the spring and sweet in the fall.
-birds won't control wasps
-spiders may trap a wasp, but the spiders tried here, no luck
-wasps actually do send out a warning to other wasps when they are attacked
I had a glass trap like this before, it was a small one of another brand. I gave up on it when I saw a wasp fly in and then right out... And I thought I saw it again here but next thing I knew, it was there, and couldn't get out. Now he's joined by several friends. I have 4 hummingbird feeders the wasps and yellow jackets like too much... I think the hummingbirds actually are deterred by the wasps. I rotate the trap in place of one of the feeders, the hummingbirds are unharmed the yellow jackets are trapped... Maybe they got some kind of message from the dying bees inside (we are not talking honey bees), I don't think I got any of the scary big wasps yet, and so far they are following where I move the hummingbird feeders, but this is the most progress I have ever made. I am thrilled. I used a bit of white sugar and water. Hard to believe it kills them without poison.
The only slack that I'll give this device is my speculation that the different species of wasps have different tendencies to explore "up" inside a structure like this, and the possibility that the wasps around my patio are not of that species. Pure speculation.
So, in general, I cannot recommend this device. I'll repost if anything changes.
Added 8/27/15: After two and a half months, it has caught a grand total of three wasps. Two of them drowned, as the unit is designed to do. The other one just flew around inside the trap for two days until I finally killed it myself. It seems that other reviewers had good success with this trap; I did not. Of course, I haven't seen as many wasps recently...perhaps they went home to tell their friends about it and they all died laughing.

This looks pretty, but did not work well. I tried another kind of wasp trap from amazon that looked like a yellow beehive with six different entry points. Read morePublished 4 days ago by Amazon Customer
No wasps yet and I recommend keeping it somewhere where its covered by the elements otherwise any wind will just blow it around (if its hanging) and most of the water will split... Read morePublished 12 days ago by GoldenGirl
Have had it a couple weeks. Paint is coming off the glass. Put natural apple juice in it. Haven't trapped one wasp.Published 14 days ago by MJ
This product did not trap a single wasp. However, it's pretty as a sun-catcher, so will probably leave it hanging on a garden hook over the summer.Published 19 days ago by books, books, books
After 2 weeks it has caught no wasps. It has fed several though. I have seen several wasps in it and check later and they are gone. I call it a wasp fly through. Read morePublished 24 days ago by Amazon Customer
These are pretty to have around the back yard. Not sure they helped with the bees or wasps tho.Published 25 days ago by Indy Mom
