We have several of the "Lights, Camera, Interaction" big toddler puzzles like this and they're fabulous. Got them last year and they're still played with daily. The knobs are big and easy to grasp, the pictures are clear and bright, and the wood is very solid and durable. Really worth the money, or you can get lucky like we did and find a bunch of them at a discount store. We got ours at Ross Dress for Less, oddly enough, for a fraction of the price I've seen them for elsewhere. Even if you have to pay full price though, they are worth it. Other similar puzzles we've tried cracked and split, and the knobs were too small or worse, came loose, presenting a choking hazard. These are high quality and fun.

I have bought puzzles made out of cardboard for about 4 dollars. After about 2 months I had to throw them away because the cardboard was bent and the pieces wouldn't fit into their respective slots. This puzzle although it cost twenty bucks has alot of advantages over the cardboard puzzles that I used to have. 1) This puzzle is very durable, since it is made out of wood it isn't going to bend or break. 2) This puzzle is smooth... you don't have to worry about your kid getting splinters. 3) The pieces fit into their respective slots (once align) with little ease. 4) The knob that is attached to the pieces makes it very easy for a child to grasp and hold onto. It also allows the child to turn the puzzle pieces with little effort, which helps the child fit the pieces into their respective slot. 5) When your child lift the pieces from their respective slot, he/she will see two pictures...one on the base of the puzzle and one on the piece that he/she had just picked up. This allows the child to match the pieces together both by shape and by pictures.

My daughter is 1 1/2 years old and is able to find where all the animals go. The knobs make it easy for her pick up the pieces and try to put them where they belong. We also have fun naming the animals and sounds they make. I recommend this puzzle for 12 - 24 month olds as the best one I've seen yet.
