Not as Golden as I remember,

The story itself is great. Based on the DVD, this is (obviously) a shortened version so as to fit in the Golden Book format. Follow Junior Asparagus as he tries to avoid getting in trouble by telling bigger and more ridiculous lies after meeting the alien "Fib". I think the story itself is probably about a 4/5.
Unfortunately, the quality of the book itself is poor. The pages themselves are wider than the cover of the book is (they form a longer, rounded edge). This makes the book look incredibly cheap and I wonder which will come first: the complete deterioration of the edges, or a papercut. The graphics themselves are also more basic than other Veggietales books, but likely pretty standard for a Golden Book. The quality of the book just doesn't live up to what I remember from my own childhood. On the other hand, I also purchased the entire "Mess Detectives" collection and the quality there is superb so I think I'll just steer clear of the Golden :) |
