Product Description
Moderately fruity and very peppery, Las Doscientas Picual extra virgin olive oil has a fresh, intense aroma with notes of fresh herbs, artichokes and green tomatoes. Made with hand picked Picual olives that are first cold pressed within hours of harvest for maximum freshness, this Picual oil has an acidity of less than 0.3%. Las Doscientas Picual olive oil has a strong, peppery intensity well-suited for seared or roasted meats and potatoes. It is also recommended for riced-based dishes including paellas and stews. This Picual olive oil was produced by Las Doscientas, a relatively new extra virgin olive oil company in the Maule Valley of Chile. The name Las Doscientas means 'The 200' in Spanish; it represents the 200 plots of farm land that were joined together to form the estate where they currently grow their olives. Founded in 2001, the company has received numerous international awards since its first harvest was bottled in 2005. This Picual extra virgin olive oil was awarded an International Grand Mention at the 2008 Concorso Internazionale L'Orciolo D'Oro awards in Italy as well as an International Gold Medal and an International Silver Medal at the 2007 Los Angeles County Fair in California. The Las Doscientas estate is 250 kilometers south of Santiago in the Maule Valley of Chile. This valley is known as Chile's premiere agricultural region and the Las Doscientas estate is situated between the Andes and Coastal Mountain ranges. The diverse climate and soil in this region is perfect for growing olives and their fields are planted with a variety of olives including Arbequina, Picual, Leccino and Coratina.
