5.0 out of 5 stars You must buy this book if your a guy going to Vegas
Just returned from 4 days in Vegas. I had not been to Vegas in 15 years and this book help make it a perfect Vegas trip. Every recommendation in the book turned out to be dead on. From the minute we set down at the airport and got into are waiting Limo, to tipping the check in girl 10.00 to get the room of our choice. I can't recommend this book strongly enough. With it...

2.0 out of 5 stars Little Black Book
Overall the book was ok. Honestly I was expecting a bit more from a so called "Vegas Insider". It did have a few helpful tips, and the rating systems for the hotels and Gentleman's Clubs were helpful in selecting where to stay and what to do. I would not pay more than $10 for it again, and it should be updated yearly, if for no other reason than things change so often...

From the minute we set down at the airport and got into are waiting Limo, to tipping the check in girl 10.00 to get the room of our choice. I can't recommend this book strongly enough. With it you're an insider knowing what you want to do and when you want to do it getting the most out of every precious moment in Vegas. Without it you're standing in your hotel the 1st day hungry and tired with no idea how to start. Read the book go to Vegas and HAVE A GREAT TIME.

5.0 out of 5 stars On the Money, February 17, 2006
This review is from: Las Vegas Little Black Book: A Guy's Guide to the Perfect Vegas Getaway (Paperback)
As advertised, this book would be a great resource for someone with limited Vegas experience who is traveling with a group of guys. I visit Vegas often so I picked it up mainly out of curiosity. For the most part, I think the authors hit the nail right on the head. I don't necessarily agree with all of the hotel and restaurant assessments but that's just a matter of opinion. It's tough to argue with their general theories and advice.

I thought the "myths" section in the beginning was particularly well done. Also, throughout the book they have little insets titled, "Classic Vegas Mistake." These alone would be helpful for someone who has never been. I learned some of these the hard way over the years.

As mentioned in other reviews, the book will not be of any help to other types of visitors (couples, families, etc..). Guys who are regular visitors to sin city probably won't find much new either, but it's an easy read and I found myself smiling in agreement often.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just for men!, May 22, 2006
This review is from: Las Vegas Little Black Book: A Guy's Guide to the Perfect Vegas Getaway (Paperback)
While this book definately isn't for families it can be applied to travelers other than just men. I just bought this book (I'm a 32 year old married woman)and found some great advice that can apply to anyone that is looking to let loose and have some fun.

I am soon traveling to Vegas with my husband and two girlfriends. The information on the bars and clubs was extremely helpful. We also plan to hit a strip club while there and this book helped us decide. While I've been to several local strip clubs, I have never been to one in a big city and it outlines some of the basics that are different than what I'm used to.

I have been to Vegas 4 other times in the past couple years, but this will be my first trip that is completely social. This will be an exceptional tool to have.

. . .and what guy doesn't want to know just where to go and what to do while in Sin City! After all vacation time is short so why waste it figuring out things during your stay! The authors say it like it is and steer you in the right direction. Having been to Vegas just recently, I agree with their comments on the places that I have seen for myself and would feel comfortable trusting them on their other recommendations. Easy to pack, lots of info. Fun book to read too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Score BIG In Sin City!, November 17, 2005
By
Jonathan (West Hills, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Las Vegas Little Black Book: A Guy's Guide to the Perfect Vegas Getaway (Paperback)
This book is perfect for anyone looking to have fun in Las Vegas, Nevada, A.K.A. Sin City. I've often wondered if all the hype about 'comped' rooms and 'happening' night clubs is true. After all, people are always telling me how to get things for free in Vegas, how to get into the hottest night clubs, etc. But is it true? This book answered those questions for me and explained the reality behind many other common myths.

The book also includes advice on finding the best bars in town, where to eat like a king, where to gamble and how to gamble smart, and how to get around in the city. Believe me; if you've ever taken a cab ride in Las Vegas, you know what I'm talking about. Find out in advance how to get around before you arrive. It could save you time and money. The book also covers the most important topic, which is, "Where should you stay in Vegas?". You'd be surprised to find out how important this can be. The book explains why.

Bottom line, I frequent Vegas quite often, even lived there for a summer in 2003. This book reveals quite a bit of Vegas 'Behind the Scenes' information I never knew about. You'll find no hype or fluff here. Just helpful tips and useful advice on making the most of your trip to Vegas. This is definitely good reading material for those looking to 'Score Big' in Sin City!

4.0 out of 5 stars Some good ideas, some old news, March 17, 2006

This review is from: Las Vegas Little Black Book: A Guy's Guide to the Perfect Vegas Getaway (Paperback)
I've been to Vegas several times (I go twice a year), I've been in every casino on the strip and downtown and the big ones that are off-strip (Hard Rock, Hilton, Rio, Palms). I just finished the book and have not had a chance to employ the advice, but I like the advice so much, I plan on trying at least some of it.

Some of the pointers on gambling are old news to anyone who is familiar with casino gambling anywhere (limits go up at night, etc). Not all of the advice is going to work for every group of guys, but it should work well for a group of typical guys.

Some of the other advice makes sense when you think about it, but you'd likely never think about it until you read it in this book (the difference between bars and night clubs).

5.0 out of 5 stars A breakthrough in planning a guy's trip to Vegas!, February 21, 2006
This review is from: Las Vegas Little Black Book: A Guy's Guide to the Perfect Vegas Getaway (Paperback)
This book is very well done, thoroughly covers every important detail of Vegas trips for guys, and is an important breakthrough in planning a Vegas weekend. The more time and effort you put into developing an itinerary and preparing for your trip, the more you will get out of your experience.

Living here in Vegas, I started using this book by taking it with us on the Strip. We scored with a couple of chicks on that first day we used it. Everyone I show it to naturally thinks it's a helpful book. Now that I have read it from cover to cover, I'm that much more prepared.

I also find the companion website, blog, and radio show to be very helpful, as they pick up where the book leaves off.

I highly recommend this book to anyone traveling to Vegas or living in Vegas. Soon they will also come out with the ladies' version and other emanations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blown Away!, November 8, 2005
This review is from: Las Vegas Little Black Book: A Guy's Guide to the Perfect Vegas Getaway (Paperback)
As a guy who lived in Vegas for over ten years, I was blown away when I read Las Vegas Little Black Book. First of all, it's the only Vegas guide book that actually gets it right. The authors know every dirty little secret about this wonderful city, and aren't afraid to share their knowledge with the general public. From the "Classic Vegas Mistakes," to the chapter rating the best gentlemens clubs on and off the strip, to the sample itineraries which assume that most men need hour by hour guidance (which is absolutely true), this Las Vegas Little Black Book leaves any other Vegas guide book in the dust. I'd never plan a trip to Vegas without it!
