A word of warning!!,
This review is from: Lascal BuggyBoard Maxi+ - Black (Baby Product)
A word of warning to anyone considering purchasing the Lascal Kiddyboard-Maxi. I had extremely high hopes for this product and loved it for the first few months. At the time, I had four children under the age of 4 and this board allowed me to physically push all four kids in the stroller at the same time (assuming I was wearing one of them in a bjorn). However, after several months of moderate use, the board began to spontaneously disconnect from the stroller attachment, causing my child to fall off of the board while the stroller was still moving. This was very dangerous. When I called the customer service number to report the problem, I asked whether this was a common occurrence. The customer care rep answered something to the effect of "only in New York, where it is cold and people go on and off of sidewalks frequently." She asked me if I lived in a cold climate - which I do. Apparently, cold weather is enough to cause this product to break. I would not risk putting my child on it again and I feel that consumers deserve to be aware of this problem. Proceed with caution.

Good product but very hard to install,

If you decide to buy the Buggyboard, you must be aware that Maxi size fits all strollers and Mini size fits small lightweight strollers such as Combi. Check the Lascal website to confirm before choosing.I attached the Maxi Buggyboard to my Maclaren Techno XT stroller and it's the right size for my 4 y/old to stand on. My 4 y/old is not very tall and she needs to stretch her neck up a little while standing on the board to see in front. I'm sure it would work better if she was taller. Installing the unit itself was such a pain because instructions were in picture form and each stroller has a different frame. I had to try about 4 or 5 times before getting it right.... hurt my fingers a little while doing so as the fasterners were quite solid and hard to turn (for good reasons! means that it's strong enough to hold the child's weight).... Plenty of questions popped up while installing this... do I loop around the spring where the stroller closes? Do I loop above the joints? If I do so, will the stroller close properly without cutting the fasterners? Do I attach the board to the front OR the back support frame of the stroller? All these are done via Trial & Error, as the instructions do not mention exactly where to attach the board as each stroller has a different structure. When installing, ensure that you do not block the 'joints' where the stroller is folded... this is tricky!! Once installed, the unit is steady and gives good support for the child standing on it. The space on the Maxi is great!! I figured, if I had a Combi or similar smaller stroller, I would have used the Maxi Buggyboard too, instead of the Mini. I have tested this unit over normal pavements, roads, and even over bumpy and uneven roads, it works great and my child never fall off. If I had to 'reverse', then I'd rather do a U-turn instead of walking backwards with the Stroller attached to the Board. The wheels are responsive enough for U-turns. If travelling with the Buggyboard.... BE AWARE THAT THE AIRLINES CONSIDER THE BOARD AS A SEPARATE UNIT OF YOUR STROLLER.... IT IS NOT CONSIDERED AS ONE. What this means is that you will need to ask for TWO tagging numbers when they store your stroller before boarding the plane. One tag number for the stroller and another for the board!!! I was not aware about this and had only ONE tagging number given to me for the stroller.... as a result, my Buggyboard got 'lost' when I landed. I had to make a lost-luggage claim and describe the whole situation to the airport officer. LUCKY for me, they were able to trace my Buggyboard after 2 days..... Apparently a smart stewardess noticed that the board had no tag, and she produced a new tag for it, but she can't trace the owner. So after they processed my lost-luggage forms, they were able to track me and return the board. (Yes, they do not allow anything like the board to be stored in the stroller basket, so it's considered 2 items!) Good luck in your Buggyboard, hope this helps :)

Excellent! Great for older toddlers/young kids,

I have just ordered extra stroller attachments for our "boogy board" as my daughter calls it, so we can attach it to all three of our strollers. (the attachments can be ordered at their website at www.lascal.se) We attached it first to our Maclaren Quest. My older daughter turned five and is "too old" for the stroller, but she loves to ride the boogy board. When we are on long walks or long trips to the mall it is a lifesaver. At the beginning of the year we went to Disney (with our 3 and 5 year old) and we were so happy we had the buggy board for the long walk to and from the car and then from the train to the parks and waiting to get in. Even though we rented a double stroller there and gate checked ours, the stroller and buggy board made a HUGE difference when trying to hurry to and from the park - a couple parks are a big walk! Not to mention how much slower kids are when you are walking. And at the end of the day we would have been carrying her if it wasn't for the buggy board.Yes, you do have to reach around them and walk with smaller steps, but I expected that when I bought it and would much rather do that than carry her. :) We now have a ten month old so I ordered the straps which are used to attach the board to your stroller to go on our double stroller so she'll still be able to "boogy"! As for use, it took a while to get the straps on the stroller (maybe 1/2 hour) but once you have them on where you need them you're set. The straps are what you attach the buggy board to. To remove it you click the arms off the attachment to the stoller, then squeeze the button on the arms to move them out so you can take it off. Or you can unlock it with a twist of the wheel and fold it up - it comes with an attachment for holding it up. I usually take mine off and stick it in the basket, it takes 5-10 seconds to take it off or reattach it. It is very sturdy and was not wobbly at all! We love it!

I purchased the board a couple of days ago for my 2yo. I read other reviews and the reviews were mixed, so my expectations were not very high. Installation was harder than i expected. In fact, i thought it was broken and had to take it back to the store just to be told that i was not doing it correctly. But once it was installed, adjusting the board was very easy. My 2yo liked it a lot and seemed comfortable. My 5 yo neice also liked it a lot and seemed comfortable. I thought it might be uncomfortable for me to push the stroller, but it was better than i had expected. And unlike other people said, the stroller does NOT tip over. I have a Maclaren XL. Overall, good first impression and i was pleased. Now i just hope it is durable.

best thing for older sibling,

bought it, attached it and traveled with it immediately. awesome through the airport. awesome walking all over new york. awesome walking all through disneyworld. we have a 5 yr old and an infant. it was great. the 5 yr old could get off and on easily. the board easily lifts with a strap. we bought an extra set of attachments so that we could easily move the board from the regular stroller to the jogger (which also required extenders) if you are a walker and have 2 kids this is absolutely worth the money. i only gave 4 stars bc it was a little hard for me to attach the first time.

Let's Boogie on the BuggyBoard - A personal experience,
By Amber (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lascal BuggyBoard Maxi+ - Black (Baby Product)
Amber's Experience (co-author of the Petite Consumer)I am the thrifty mom. When my second child was born two years after my first, I thought double strollers would be useless. Plus, they seemed like such a hassle. Especially since my oldest son was so independent and hated sitting the stroller. However, I knew at age two, he still would tire sometimes when we were out. Before having my daughter, I would just carry him. But now, I would have two to care for...and there was no way an infant could walk while I carried a two year old. I found the BuggyBoard online and knew it was for me. My husband called it a surfboard and my son was sold. He loved the thing. It was great when he was a toddler. Kept him out of traffic, with me when I was in a hurry, and still gave him the independence he desired. He wasn't strapped in. We all know how much a two year old boy hates to be strapped into anything. They defy restraint. Over time, both of my children got older and I finally succumbed to a double stroller. By age three, my son welcomed the seat of a stroller and we retired the BuggyBoard when he turned four. Then we welcomed my third child and I was so happy to have the BuggyBoard in use again. It was a great for trips to the shops and restaurants with my daughter. To my surprise, it even fit to my double stroller. I was joyous! Trips to parks with three were so much easier than I expected. The BuggyBoard is so great in my mind. It gives kids independence, rest, and it is fun to ride. It is also durable. I have taken it on rocks, over curbs, and through dirt. I have even used it with two kids at once (although I probably shouldn't have since there is a weight limit). Anyhow, if you have an independent child who refuses to sit in a stroller, consider the BuggyBoard. I had no idea it would be so awesome. The weirdest part about using the BuggyBoard, was that I was basically a celebrity. I would get stopped by moms, dads, grandparents, and teens just to ask me about it. It is that cool.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Lascal BuggyBoard Maxi+ - Black (Baby Product)
We considered buying a double stroller for a long time, but didn't want to spend mega bucks on a nice double stroller when my oldest was already two and likes to walk most of the time...got this buggy board for a trip and it worked great in airport and on walks around San Diego. Latched it on a borrowed snap 'n go stroller frame so didn't install the grip tape (since stroller was going to be returned) and it still worked fine. The adjustments really aren't that big of a deal. At home I plan to use it on our single BOB stroller and our UppaBaby G-light umbrella stroller once the infant can use the seat (no recline). Only issue is that on some styles of stroller you do have to sort of lean over your kid, etc. but honestly it's not a big deal and so much easier than manipulating a double stroller and you can always flip up the platform if the toddler isn't using and then it's totally out of the way. BTW, the extender arms are INCLUDED in the package so you do not need to buy the kit separately.

no more need for that HUGE double stroller! yay!,
This review is from: Lascal BuggyBoard Maxi+ - Black (Baby Product)
Sold my bj city elite double (loved it, but 48 lbs, just too big for me and my toddler ends up walking 90% of the time anyways)...Then got this buggy board to put on my bumbleride indie single- LOOOVE IT! so cool, just pop it on when i have both kids with me (27 month old and 8 month old) and we're off! Keeps my toddler safe and close when i need it, otherwise he can walk. Clips up to the back of the stroller if i know my toddler's not going to use it for awhile. I can walk very very comforably with it on as it's super high off the ground and i walk under it. Only downfall is, to be expected, the stroller takes more effort to push and you have to make wider turns when toddler is standing on the board. I can even go up and down curbs (slowly!) with toddler on the board. I thought the small wheels might not push so great but they are pretty smooth. It is a big bigger than i expected and probally weighs around 10lbs. Since you initially attach the connector straps to your stroller (these stay on your stroller even when not using the board) you just pop the arms of the board in the holes and it's ready to go in 2 seconds. Love that. So glad to be done with a huge double i never ended up using as i dreaded lifting it into my trunk and love my b. indie with this buggy board! Get it if your toddler likes to walk a ton and really doesn't need a seat (not napping in stroller- mine never ever does so this is a non-issue). Such a cool baby invention!!

This product is rubbish,

I would not recommend this product to anyone. When it is attached and working it is totally fine. However, the plastic connectors that attach the board to the stroller are not very well made. The first time they broke was just a week after I bought it. You can buy replacement connectors but they cost half as much as the board itself - $35 when the board costs $70 dollars - that is a rip off. The second time the connectors broke I just threw the thing away. I refuse to give any more money to this company. Valco has a competing product that I am going to get instead.

Anchor has broken 4 times!,
By smiley_suni (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lascal BuggyBoard Maxi+ - Black (Baby Product)
I bought this product thinking it would solve all my problems, and it was great for a while, until it broke after using it for about 2 weeks! The red pin fell out and my son fell to the street. Upon closer review, the band on the other anchor which holds the board to the stroller had started to crack. I contacted the manufacturer, and they appologized and sent a new set of anchors. Flash forward about 6 months later. The EXACT same thing happened! To reference an earlier post, I do live in NYC where is can be cold and we go up and down sidewalks alot. But note that the first 2 broke within weeks (albeit in march) and then next set was pretty much used through the summer (it broke in september). DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! |
