I already wrote a review of this fabulous gate--we have two! We did use these installation kits in order to appropriately install our gates in our kitchen doorways. It was very easy to do the initial installation and we have had no problems with temporarilty removing (and replacing) the kits and the gates in order to do some painting in the kitchen.

They seem quite sturdy and simply serve to "bump" the wall out a bit so that the bottom of the gate is pushed out beyond the wall's trimwork. You likely could achieve the same effect using some blocks of wood...but then it wouldn't look as pretty!

These would have been very helpful, had we decided to keep the gates. Wonder why they aren't just included in the regular packaging since they are really necessary...

The Lascal Kiddy Guard Wall Installation Kit is simple and easy to use. However, if you need this kit within a week or two to install your KiddyGuard on hollow walls/walls with a baseboard, I highly recommend that you do not buy it from HappyMothers.com.

It took weeks for the company to get it right. The original shipment that I received was missing parts, (the box was crushed and open) and rather than simply sending out a new box, the Happy Mothers customer service representative argued with me on the phone. She actually tried to convince me that the $20+ product was nothing more than 4 toggle bolts and 4 screws (the only thing in the 1st shipment). When she did finally concede that there was more to the kit than that, she told me that a new box would be shipped immediately. (liar liar ) When I had not received anything over a week later, I called back and spoke with the SAME CUSTOMER SERVICE REP. She not only admitted that she remembered talking to me, she told me that she had never sent a 2nd shipment because she did not believe that the kit was anything more than what I had already received (4 toggle bolts and 4 screws).

After much debate and several phone calls I did finally get my kit..... over 3 weeks after the order was placed. To all you moms out there, I can only say I know you can imagine my impatience since I really needed the gate to keep my very active child from falling down the stairs when my back was turned.

Ugg... I'm glad that's over...
