This review is from: Lascaux: Movement, Space and Time (Hardcover)
If you want to see photos of Lascaux, this is a great book. It is rather large, the paper is high quality, and there are photos of all parts of the cave. This is a wonderful book on cave painting. The text is only about the technicalities of the paintings and the caves. There is no speculation on meaning.

After reading the Shelter of Stone by Jean Auel (first series was the Clan of the Bear Cave), I became fascinated about pre-historic Cave Art. It helped me relate to the imagery of the cave painting better by looking at the pictures of the artwork. Beautiful full-colored photography. Good book for teaching prehistoric times and Cave Art in art classes too.

A beautiful collection of some of the most extraordinary cave paintings yet found. The draftmanship is every bit as good as modern artists. I can see why Picasso said after seing the cave at Altamira "We have learned nothing!".
