Product Description

The SureStrike allows any level of pistol user to practice totally safe marksmanship and handling drills with an actual weapon in any location, from the basement to the barracks. By pulling the trigger, the direct impact of the firing pin activates the SureStrike to emit a microprocessor controlled eye-safe laser pulse, a "shot" of red light, which simulates the point of impact where a bullet fired from the weapon would have struck. The SureStrike is a patent pending dry fire training system currently available for 9mm, 40 S&W, .45 ACP and .45 Long Colt pistols. The SureStrike is unique in that it is inserted in the chamber of the weapon and secured using the UhrSecure system. The heart of the SureStrike is a miniaturized microprocessor that controls laser beam duration and wavelength. Simulator Settings Laser Ammo can adjust the SureStrike to operate with various third-party simulation systems such as those sold by Beamhit, Advanced Interactive Systems (AIS-SIM), and others. Infra-red and visible spectrum lasers, plus a wide variety of wavelength and frequency settings, can be ordered.

They took forever to respond to my request, and then I convinced them to take a look at it.

The laser fires as the firing pin strikes it and the point at which the bullet would have struck the target is easy to see.

I'm able to save money by going to the range less and able to practice shooting any time at my convenience.

Reasonably good dry-fire system for pistol function and accuracy (shotgun adapters can also be purchased). The design ensures you absolutely cannot chamber a live round with the device in place, and it eliminates the problem with recovery time and multiple flashes experienced with vibration or sound-activated sensors (Laserlyte LT-Pro Pistol Laser Trainer Laser 2.1" 9mm-45Acp Red LT-PRO) since it requires a firing-pin strike to activate. It also stays aligned with the bore axis better with the included UhrSecure attachments, providing a slightly more accurate representation of where the bullet will strike than the less precise LaserLyte mounting system. On the other hand, contrary to their ads, the projecting orange nut at the muzzle when assembled will guarantee your pistol won't fit in your holster unless you have an open holster design (it won't fit in any of my 1911 Milt Sparks rigs), so holster training with this device may be problematic for you depending on your carry rig; the orange end cap is almost the size of a mini compensator and adds over a half-inch to barrel length. The end cap is rough on the exterior finish, and if you have a precision-boned leather holster, the protruding orange nut will likely sand and fray the edges of your $300 sharkskin/elephant/stingray leather at the business end of your holster within a very few presentations; as far as holster training, it appears to have been designed with plastic pistols and plastic holsters in mind. You CAN use the system without the UhrSecure rod in place - NOT recommended by the manufacturer - but the device may not be a precise fit in the chamber and won't be an (as) accurate indication of bullet placement.Read more ›

I shoot law enforcement quilifications and matches. Dry fire practice is critically crucial to becoming an expert marksman. As we all know, marksmanship is a degenerative skill reflecting upon dedication to learning and practice. Technique, muscle memory and control, sight alignment, stance, breathing, trigger control etc. must be honed and re-honed continually. I've equipped my sidearm pistol, AR-15 and 12 guage shotgun with laser ammo for practice nightly which has taken my shooting technique/skill to a whole new expert level. Before using laser ammo, I shot well enough to qualify. But since I've started practicing nightly with laser ammo to hone my shooting skills and technique, I now shoot bull's-eye "rat holes" with every gun I own everytime I step up to shoot live fire resulting in perfect scores in all kinds of "real life" weather conditions. In most cases, lasser ammo simply drops into your standard barrel for use. In other cases, I've had to adjust my weapon a little to accomodate the lasser ammo, but this is easily and simply reveresed for live fire. At first, the laser ammo seems a little over priced until you come to realize the huge savings on live ammo to accomplish the same level of expert marksmanship in half the time. It is then you realize that the price of laser ammo is actually very economical - plus you can practice at home! As an Officer, I compete in live-fire matches to hone my skills for encounters on the job "under fire." So far, I've not had any problems with laser ammo malfunctioning or breaking, but then, I know how to take care of my weapons and equipment. Being able to see where the bullet hits with each trigger pull is invaluable in dry-fire practice.Read more ›

I bought this unit to pair with my Glock 17 to practice on those days when I can't make it to the range. For the most part it works great. I found myself shooting at just about everything in the house since it is a dry fire unit and there is no way of putting in a live round. It felt awkward at first, but I got over that quickly. It does do a really good job of teaching you good trigger control. If you jerk the trigger, you'll immediately see it. And since there is no recoil, you'll know when you're doing it. Now since there is no recoil and no way for this unit to blow the slide back, you have to rack the slide after every trigger pull. After about 50 trigger pulls, I quickly got tired of racking the slide. I kind of wish it could blow the slide back after each trigger pull just so I can practice doing double taps or rapid fire since the range I go to frowns on that stuff. Overall this is a great product and definitely worth getting if you are a beginner as it helps reinforce good trigger control and aiming with the added bonus of not costing you $$$ for any ammo.

Update:
I found a trigger reset kit from the GlockStore. I haven't bought this myself, but it looks like it deals with having to rack the slide after each trigger pull. Here's the link to the product. [...]

I bought one of these directly from surestrike. Within the first time I used it it broke and jammed. I'm not even able to take the bullet apart anymore. I then tried to get a hold of their customer service. They took forever to respond to my request, and then I convinced them to take a look at it. It has been 2 months since I sent it in and have not received any response. I have called and left multiple emails. So now I can't even say I have a $160+ paper weight because they won't even take the time to send it back. There are cheaper forms of these laser training systems that you would make a much better choice than this.
