I Guess I Was Lucky,

This review is from: Laser Challenge Extreme Gotcha (Toy)
After reading the other reviews, I guess we were just lucky. I bought two sets of the Laser Challenge Gotcha Extreme for Christmas and they are a blast. My nine year old and I had a great time. I did not experience ANY of the problems listed in other reviews, everything worked extremely well. The distance we checked was about 300 ft., the further away you go the more accurate you need to be. Within 60 feet though you could be off by as much as 9 inches from the target vest and still score a hit.The review that claims the toy can damage eyesight is more than a little suspicious. The system uses infra-red, same as the channel changer. I have searched and searched for some reference that this could damage eyes and found not one single warning or any evidence whatsoever that it could cause any damage at all. ... A great game, worked extremely well.

I read sveral reviews on the toy and thought they were great. I decided to buy two sets so that my 2 friends and brother could play. I read several reviews claiming that the gun was bad and that you couldn't hit something one foot away. That's wrong. I played the game and found that the infared beam can actually go through card board boxes and even your hand! Therefore covering your target will not work. Here are the pros and cons.PROS: 1. 350 foot range! 2. No laser (it won't hurt your eyes) 3. Max Blast setting (counts as 3 hits) 4. Energy Blast Shield setting! (protects you for 5 seconds) 5. Convenient grip and triggers! 6. Simple to use. 7. Shoots through cardboard and hands! CONS: So, the Gotcha Extreme is an excellent laser tag sysyem. It's ability to use Max blasts and shields makes it well worth the money.

Gotcha Extreme is a nice addition to the Laser Challenge line of LaserTag toys but it is STILL not as good as the V2 line! I don't know why ToyMax discontinued the V2 line and made these in replacement because the V2 line was FAR SUPERIOR. The only things I like about this line are the new additions like not being able to shoot or reset yourself. There is STILL no back sensor and since ToyMax decided to not put in an expansion port, they have just guaranteed that you CANNOT use a back sensor with this unit or the ELS computer of the earlier V2 line. If yer shooting your opponent and he/she turns around and walks away, its your tough luck, you WON'T be able to hit him/her. They should bring back the V2 line, cause this newer stuff just doesn't cut it. Actually it does... it cuts the fun... in half.

I bought two sets of these even though the review above this one (The only one at the time.) said they were not very good. This laser tag set really doesn't cut the fun in half. Sure there are no back sensors. It doesn't really matter though because it's REALLY hard to find back sensors for any laser tag set.The only thing wrong with these, is that it can somtimes be difficult to hit someone even if there facing towards you. (One tip: If you do get these it's fun to attach them to the collar of your shirt and that way you can hit someone even if they are just peeking from behind a tree.)

Ok, the toy has some pretty cool functions, like team modes, destroyer blast, and nice looking guns. The downside to this set is that it is nearly impossible to hit people. I bought 3 sets of this toy, thinking it would be great, and after playing with my friends I would find myself and my friends standing clustered 3 feet away from each other, with no shots actually hitting anybody. No running, no competition, no fun, nothing at all! You rarely get hit, you rarely hit anybody, and so these games drag on forever, usually ending in everybody turning off their vests, and storing them away. The Laser Challenge Pro vests were the best, however they broke quite quickly. It was easy to hit your opponents with these vests, and there were TONS of codes to go along with the packs. The Gotcha extreme has 3 codes, and you have to shoot your opponent from just the right place to hit them. What is the fun in standing around? Laser Challenge is a much better experiance when you have to run away from your opponents, and hide and plan strategies, however, this game incorporates none of these attributes. You can be standing a foot away from the person aiming at their pack and you are very likely not to hit them! I suggest customers wait for another Laser toy to come out that actually hits the opponents!

this game is great if you have a large space and a buddy to play with. you just have to be sure that you are playing in the dark, because if you're playing in a well-lit room, the game won't work. you could be standing right next to your opponent shooting at the target all day if the lights are on and maybe get one or two shots. if you play in a dark space, the shots are more effective and much more fun!

Ok the lazer extreme thing is a fun game for kids from like 9 to 15. It has good features, such as the 350 feet+ range for shooting. Also the shield is pretty good. Me and my brother have a lot of fun with the game and we have had it for about 1 1/2 years and it still works good. The only bad feature is that you need 6 batteries, but thats no biggie. They say you have to be lucky with it, i dont think so, i think they just stink at shooting. Once you get good it is hard to miss the target, and you can do it inside or outside, plus you get some exersise... Pros: Cons:

Great Buy!,

I am a Laser Challenge enthusiast, and this is a very good set. It's reload function is really cool (you just point the gun down). It has radar, teams, and codes. The only downside to Gotcha Extreme is that is is not equipped with a back vest. This is a very good buy. It is also compatible with all other Laser Challenge Products. If you are starting in Laser Challenge, though, I reccomend a Laser Challenge V2 Team Force Set.

I think this is a very fun game. It comes in handy when you want to play laser tag and you dont want to pay $5 per game per person. I use mine almost twice a week. The best part is that your friends could buy it and you could have more people play. My best time with this toy is when my friends and I had ten people playing at once. I recommend you to buy this toy. Striker1313

I just bought this new version of laser challenge because me and my sister play the original laser challenge so much. It's my favorite toy! You have a shield, a bunch of different things to shoot, and a radar detector. Me and my sister run around the neighborhood playing this game for hours. Its practicly become a hobby of mine. so there's an opinion from a kids point of view.
