Bad experience replacing the rear sight with the Laserlite sight on my Glock,

This was my first purchase of a laser sight and from the looks of the way the laser replaced the rear sight on the Glock, I knew I wouldn't need to replace my existing holster setup. Today was my first attempt to get the laser sighted in. Only after about 6 rounds I had the laser set perfectly. Where ever that red dot was located on the target, that's right where the bullet hit. I ended up putting about 30 rounds through the gun. When I got home I always clean my guns. After cleaning, I couldn't get the laser to turn on. The button on the rear of the laser wouldn't move. I pushed as I normally did, but it never came on. I removed the batteries to check the contacts and everything looked fine. As I put the batteries back in and started to tighten the cap, I did see the laser light come on, but the further I continued to tighten the battery cap, the weaker the laser light became. I played around with this thing for over 2 hours and never got the laser to perform the way it did when I was shooting. Just for information, I ended up at Cabales and explaned my problem, because they sell the exact same laser from Laserlite. I was informed of the many returns Cabales has experienced with this particular rear mounted laser sight. The constant force needed to chamber another round proved to be to much for the Laserlite to handle. Even though I didn't purchase the Laserlite from Cabales, they were more than willing to help me out. I ended up getting a Crimson Trace Laser Grip for the Glock for the same price and it didn't interfer with my holster setup. Sorry Laserlite, but it just didn't hold up after shooting 30 rounds.

this is my first laser sight, and I bought it because it so closely replaced the size and location of the Glock rear sight. This avoids having to find new holsters that accomodate the typical sight mounted on an under-barrel rail. Also, it doesn't change the weight or balance of the gun. The retail price is below other lasers, plus Amazon offered it for about $60 below list. It was very simple to install, needing no tools other than those provided in the kit. It was also easy to aim with the included tiny allen wrench - my initial installation and aiming at home produced shots only a few inches off when shot at a target 20+ feet away. One downside is that the tiny batteries don't last very long if you leave the laser on. Another is that the on-off button is difficult to turn on when drawing from a holster quickly. Lastly, the button can be turned on by accident by clothing or otherwise, running the batteries down and leaving the laser inoperable when needed. Otherwise I'm quite satisfied.

not worth the money. weak laser. 20' max in daylight. Battery life short. No instructions as to over adjusting then bringing back to normal. Had to call company to get info. The company was receptive to replacement. Ok for indoor shooting.

Laserlyte Glock sight,

Outstanding sight!! I put it on my Glock and used an old Bushnell bore sighter to get it on paper. I set up a paper plate at 25 feet and put all the first clip rounds into the plate. Very good product

Great product, Incredible customer service,

I have to tell you... I love this product. I have it on my G27. The main selling point for me was the customer service. The sight actually came as a package deal with my Glock. I installed it the first night and I couldn't get it to sight in. Played with it for hours, but it stayed about 6" left of target no matter what i did. When I tried to adjust windage any further than that, the laser cut out. I called Laserlyte the next morning and described the problem in a message. They are based in AZ and are 3 hours behind me. I got a call within 10 minutes of the time they opened and the customer service was second to none. They sent me out a new sight (which showed up in 2 days) along with a 12 pack of batteries and a prepaid postage envelope for the return of the defective sight. I installed the new one and it was spot on with very minor adjustments needed. I had it shooting perfect within 20 minutes. Zero problems out of it. Best customer service I've ever experienced. I would buy this for all my guns. Well worth the price. Fantastic idea and fantastic product backed by top notch customer service. 5 stars.

I was able to remove old rear sight and replace with this sight in less than half an hour. Good in low light conditions, not so much in bright sun light.

Special "addition" from Amazon,

Nice touch. Makes firing in any direction easy in any firing position, even with one hand. Installation was easy. All I had to do was drift the original sight out with the supplied punch and tap the laser in. My only problem when sighting in was my own fault. I was making my "dope" changes as if it were a scope (lasers work the opposite). Once I realized ny error, POI was right on target. Also, as a pleasant surprise, was the option for either flashing strobe or constant beam. Most lasers don't give you the choice. One click turns the little green light on, two clicks turn the laser on. Just hold the button down for about five seconds and the constant beam turns into a flashing strobe. Do the same thing to return to constant beam. With a little practice, I have gotten pretty god at turning the laser on during my draw. Fits in any holster. All in all, I count it as money well spent.

The LaserLyte is awesome. Amazon was great and shipped it promptly. Installation was a breeze, as all the tools were included. Quick and simple. Looks great on the gun, small and non cumbersome. Works like a charm. Very happy chappy. Would recommend this for anyone who have wanted a laser sight or illuminated (meprolite/trigicon) sight. The illumination isn't really bright, but the laser is awesome. Still fits in all my holstetrs. looks good and is as easy or even better to shoot with than the standard glock sight. I love it.

Mixed feelings,

I ordered these sights for both a Ruger P94 and a Glock 27. I installed it on the Ruger first and it worked as advertised. Push the button once, the laser would pulse. Press again, and you got a solid beam. Press again, and it turned off. Sighting it in was very easy.
Then I installed it on the Glock before I figured out that it did not work the same. After returning and receiving two more sets with the same problem, I finally called the manufacuterer and it was explained that they were upgrading the new lasers with these functions. First click on the button turns on the night sight only...no laser. Second push on the button turned on a solid beam. You can switch from solid to pulse by pushing the button and holding it for 6+ seconds. If the sight is set to pulse, it also affects the night sight...either they are both on pulse, or both on solid. Granted, I could have saved a lot of time and effort by reading the instructions COMPLETELY before I started returning them (Sorry Amazon)...MYBAD!!! Pro/Con - I like the concept of this lazer sight, but feel like they are actually making a mistake with the new design for the following reasons. I've tried using the night sight but find it useless without the front sight accessory. If it were me, I would have made the first push of the button, the lazer, not the night sight. But to be honest, I wouldn't have changed the functionality at all. The Ruger sight, I felt was great...push it once and you got the solid beam, push it again you got the pulsing laser. Basically I have no use for the night sight function and if I can, I'm going to see if I can trade this sight in for the older style that works like the one on my Ruger. PRO - Very easy to sight in once it is installed, fairly accessable compared to other styles of lasers. Overall - I won't be returning any of the ones I've purchased...but probably won't buy again unless they go back to the original functionality or at least offer that as an option.

LaserLyte doesn't lite it,
This review is from: LaserLyte Glock Rear Sight Unv (Sports)
I bought the LaserLyte Glock Rear Sight for my Glock 23, at a gun show, from the Glock Rep. It worked fine there. I got it home. Played with it. Everything was fine. I put it in the night stand beside my bed. In the morning the batteries were dead. I put new batteries in and nothing. The more I turned the front of the battery pack out the better it seemed to be. I took it to the range and it worked on and off. I maybe got 20 rounds through the gun and the laser was dead. My buddy bought one at the same time and he has had the same problems. We thought it being the Glock Rep they would have good quality stuff. Forget it.
I paid more than Amazon charges. I think I have been ripped off. No more anything from LaserLyte or the Glock Rep. |
