Ordered this item in spite of a conspicuous lack of reviews. I chose this one over the competition (Crimson Trace & LaserMax) simply because of the aesthetics--I just liked the way it looked in pictures better than the others. Installed it and took it out to sight it in, and realized I had left at home the tool which was included in the product's packaging to adjust the laser! Ran about 100 rounds through my Shield 9mm anyway, and quickly realized that the laser dot is already so close to accurate that it really doesn't *need* adjustment. I'll bring the tool next time anyway, to tweak it to perfection, but at 10 yards out, it was consistently shooting no more than 2 inches off (consistently low and left).

The on/off button is easy to push with one finger using either hand, and it came with an extra set of batteries. I was shooting outside in the middle of the Summer day in the Texas sun. My target was very slightly shaded by a grove of trees, and the dot was easily visible in that circumstance. It was not so visible when pointed at a surface which was subject to direct sunlight. At night the dot is big and powerfully bright.

I've never used lasers from other manufacturers, so I have no previous experience with which to compare this one. Furthermore, there are exceedingly few "real life" circumstances in which a laser is even useful to begin with (and a few where using one would actually present a liability to the user). With those things in mind, this product delivered everything I expected from it, and I'm very pleased with it so far.

This fits on my gun perfectly. It was easy to assemble and easy to use. The original batteries that came in it
were dead but there was an extra pair in the package that worked.

Update Feb. 2 2104. It stopped working. New batteries and it still does not work. Of course the return policy ended Jan. 31 2013.

Won't buy here again.

Update Feb. 5 2014. I received the replacement laser. After installing it I could immediately tell the difference
from the first one. the laser was much brighter and sharper. We'll see how it works after some time.

As far as Amazon goes, I can't say enough about how well they handled this and how much I appreciate their assistance. When I contacted
them about the first problem they immediately ordered a replacement. They also emailed me the RMA info so that the return
is easy. This is what customer service is all about and the reason I do all of my shopping on Amazon. Way to go Amazon and thanks.

Only three stars because time will tell if the product works out. Five stars to Amazon.

This sight is not very reliable. Laser goes off on its own, sometimes difficult to turn on. Doesn't seem to be very durable, bu it was cheap.

It is a nice extra. However, the design is such that when I shoot, the recoil makes my finger hit the plastic that protrudes on the trigger guard and hurts my finger slightly. If it was designed with a slight angle vs a step that wouldn't be an issue.

There are a couple of problems for the LaserLyte. The main one is that the connection to the battery is dependent on how tight the screws are on the cover located on the right side of the handgun. After shooting about 250 rounds the laser started to dim or not come on at all. When I returned from the range I tightened the screws for the battery cover and everything appeared fine. After shooting another 100 rounds the problem came right back. You could press on the battery cover and the laser would work fine...not optimal by any means. Lastly, after about 500 rounds the laser would not adjust to the left. To move the laser to the left you turn the adjustment wrench counter clockwise. After doing that more that two rotations I realized that it was stripping the adjustment screw and never would be usable. At that point, it was trash. Personally, I would either pay more for a Viridian Green Laser (double the price) or wait for one to come out that is both a laser and a tactical light. If you plan on purchasing this, adjusting the laser once at 7M, and never shooting it unless in self defense...it should work fine. I practice quite a bit and probably give more wear and tear to the accessories than most.
