The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because I felt that some key things in the book didn't make it onto the screen. I recognize the skill of the writers and producers in being able to get most of the key elements into the production, but in the final 20 minutes, I felt that things were being "hurried along" to get the end of the story. Without giving anything away, I can say that in the book, you get a much better sense of "It" and where it came from.
In the book, for example, Stephen King actually manages to make you feel for the creature... a little... before the end comes. In the video version, the creature is simply a monster to be dispatched.
And for those who have read the book, the notorious "loss of innocence/bonding" scene is notably absent from the video, for obvious reasons. However, this does not affect the flow of the story.
If you have not read the book, you will probably be able to fully enjoy this feature on its own merits. If for no other reason, see this to witness Tim Curry in a fantastic role.
The plot lines are what are expected but the effects have a hint of cheesiness even for the time it was produced.

Rentals don't give a normal person enough time to watch a miniseries. I can't spend over 3 hours in front of the tv. Amazon, give us more time with our rentals! Read morePublished 10 days ago by Amazon Customer
Good flick but wish key parts were a little truer to the novel. Get's the story told even with the deviations from the book.Published 15 days ago by Amazon Customer
