3.0 out of 5 stars An interesting, overlooked little sci-fi comedy/drama., December 6, 2000
This review is from: Laserman [VHS] (VHS Tape)
A movie that couldn't be defined in any one category. The title character, scientist Arthur Weiss is a Chinese/Jewish laser specialist pressured by gangsters to use his laser technology for crime. Little action to speak of, but the strange dynamics between Weiss, his Jewish mother and his celibate New Age girlfriend will keep you guessing. Although the film's pace is uneven and its eclectic plot elements will alienate mainstream viewers, it's a nice change of pace for those looking for something different. If you liked "Buckaroo Banzai" and "Big Trouble in Little China," this might be the film for you.
