Even high speed is quiet.

This fan is quiet and moves a good amount of air for the size, it's cheap too.

I needed a small, quiet, desk top fan for work - this is perfect.

That's what a fan should do, keep working. I have it on my desk at work running 24/7 for about a year now. Lasko fans are also quieter than many others, it does not disturb conversations, in fact I usually forget it is running.

We needed a quiet fan for our kid's room. We looked at several fans and decided to buy the supposedly "quiet" Vornado. Big mistake! We wanted a quiet fan for the kids, but ended up deciding we also wanted a quiet fan for us as well. The Vornado made it self known all the way down the hall in our bedroom, even on its lowest setting. This time we were a bit more careful and finally decided on the Lasko 6" Personal Fan. Big success! It has two levels and is quiet on both. The air coming from our registers when the air conditioner is on is louder than this fan. The design is not cheap either. The knob on the back that switches between OFF and levels 1 and 2 has a nice design.

Rating:
Noise: 10 out of 10 (whisper quiet - can't tell its on when down the hall or other side of their room)
Price: 10 out of 10 (there may be a fan just as good in design/low-noise, but not for the price - closest competitor was $10 more)
Design: 8 out of 10 (it is sturdy and doesn't have one of those cheapo knobs - of course it's cheap, but they made it very well for the price)
Cooling: 8 of 10 (again, this isn't a Vornado - I just wanted decent air movement within a decent decibel range at a decent price - this has got all three)

Great little fan that is small enough for a bedside but powerful enough that you'll want to turn it down to low most of the time. This little guy pushes around a surprising amount of air -- easily besting Duracraft and Honeywell models that are larger. Nice little touch is the small cup area on the base -- perfect for little things in the cubical world (paper clips, etc) or bedside (ear plugs, nail clippers, etc).

Very quiet, little or no air whoosh but the motor does make a somewhat higher-pitched low noise on either speed.

This is a small plastic fan. It's not sturdy, and in fact the first one I received was broken in shipping. Amazon promptly replaced it and the second one arrived intact. A fall off a table popped the front off, but didn't break it so I was able to snap it back on. It's not the most attractive fan either. But it's pretty quite, and nice and small, so you can put it most anywhere. All in all, it's pretty good, and what I needed. It does not oscillate, which is fine with me.

I've had two of these for a dozen years and they are still running well, but thought I should get a couple more just in case. these are marvelous little fans.

I bought this fan for a month now. This fan works really well to cool down my notebook computer and external hard drive (I use speed 1, never use speed 2). About the noise, I put it right next to my laptop, so I know it is running but it does not bother me at ALL. I also like the design of the fan. The motor is cover with smooth hard pastic unlike those cheap pastic. Overall, I really recommend this fan to everyone.

Rating:
Noise- 1 out of 10 (low noise)
Design- 9 out of 10 (excellent design, not the best)
Cooling- 8 of 10 (cool enough on speed 1)

This was an excellent buy. The fan has 2 speed settings, a nice long cord and is perfect for an office desk or area of limited space. Not much more I can say really. You won't get much better value for money than with this fan. For a small fan it cools quickly and is surprisingly quiet.

I have one of these in my bathroom, to aim at the mirrors while I shower (so no steam builds up on them), and then I aim it at my shower walls/tub to prevent mildew & mold from building up. I run it on the highest setting in there until all the moisture is gone from the shower stall/tub. That also cools off the bathroom a bit, after the heat of hot water running warms it up. It works like a charm. I went from having to clean the bathtub & shower tile weekly w/ Scrubbing Bubbles & Comet (not fun) to just giving it a quick blast of spray bleach once a month to keep it all white, pretty & sanitized. Having plenty of air circulation is the key to mildew prevention & management. They will possibly move a bit if placed on a slicker or curved surface, like a vanity top. But nothing extreme- just try to place it on as flat a surface as possible.

I have the next one in my bedroom, to keep the room from getting too stuffy at night, and to provide white noise while I sleep. It works perfectly for those purposes. I have a quite a big bedroom, and sometimes a bigger fan is better (when I need to really cool the room down), but for general nightly use throughout the year it works great. I should mention that I've had each of these fans for over two years (some much longer), and they're all still running great. If they start making a rattling noise at all, invariably it means that they need to be cleaned. Compressed/canned air sprayed at the back of the fan gets nearly all of the dust out of the nooks & crannies. Be prepared to vacuum up afterwards, becauase as is true with all fans, dust is going to be attracted to these.

My third fan is in the living room.
