3.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect
This fan does almost all its advertisements say. The one major thing that needs improvement though is the clip. it is not strong enough to hold the fan in the position I needed. Other than that it is fine.

This compact fan arrived just in time for a triple-digit-temperature heat wave. With no air-conditioning at home, I needed help staying cool while sitting at my desk -- and the Clip Stik Desk Fan worked out just great.

The fan is effective within a distance of 3 feet. There's a high and a low setting, both of which are pretty quiet. And, when used without the removable clip, it takes up very little desk space (4"D x 3-3/8"W x 10-1/2"H).

Using the clip frees up even more desk space -- I can securely clamp the fan to the shelf of my computer desk. The arm of the clip attachment is adjustable at 3 different points: the elbow has 180-degree mobility, and both ends (where the arm attaches to the fan, and where it attaches to the clip) swivel from side to side.

The rubber teeth on the clip prevent it from slipping, and protect the wooden surface of my shelf.

Warning:
Though the instruction manual cautions that the clip is stable clamped to a flat surface that is between 1/4" and 1-3/4" thick, I've got it attached to a 5/8"-thick shelf and I really don't think it would hold the weight of the fan on anything much thinner.

The only negative thing I can think of is that the fan only cools an approximate 6"-wide area (side to side). But, unless you plan to move around a lot at your desk, this shouldn't be a problem.*

If you're looking for a highly effective fan that offers both a small footprint on your desktop and the option of a clamp, the versatile Lasko Clip Stik Desk Fan is a terrific choice.

( * Lasko makes a similar fan, Model: Lasko 4000. There's no Clip/clamp feature, but it oscillates, cooling a wider area as well as a longer distance. I use this one in my office and am very satisfied with it.)

I see reviews where they say it doesn't pump out enough air. I guess they must need it to circulate a whole room. It is a desk fan and I have to say I even wish there was a lower setting. A potentiometer style control would have been much better than the 2 settings "high" and "really high". if you want a breeze to your face you will need to set it back about 3 feet at least, otherwise your eyeballs will dry out. :-P
The construction is ok for a mostly plastic fan. If you plan on adjusting it a lot, plan on the joints wearing out after a while. I was able to find plenty of places to clip it and have it stay sturdy. I give 4 stars because it fit my needs almost perfectly. -1 star for the eyeball drying.

3.0 out of 5 stars Some quality issues, November 28, 2009

I need to agree with some of the others who noted the poor quality of this fan. I took it out of the box, excitedly, and upon turning it on, the fan made a horrible noise. After investigating, it turns out that if I don't hold the fan level (either horitonzal or vertical), the blade hits the plastic housing on every revolution. This would definitely inhibit the fan's dynamic positioning features. It works for me fortunately, because of where I decided to mount it - and instead of going through the hassle of returning it, I'm going to take one for the team.

Otherwise, the fan is quiet enough, and the air movement is ideal for the office environment. If you're looking for something to blow back your sweaty hair and dry your armpit stained undershirt, get a bigger oscillating fan, or just go on a diet. No one wants a paper shifting typhoon in their cubicle, and nearby co-workers don't want to hear a noisy fan motor.

2.0 out of 5 stars Looks nice, cheap build, April 27, 2011
This review is from: Lasko Clip Stik Desk Fan 2-SPEED (Kitchen)
Nice comapct design looks great and functionally would fit great above a monitir in a cubicle. One problem...Cheap build would not even allow the angle on the clip to hold the fan as it is pictured in this ad. No matter what I did, no tmatter how hard I tightened it it would not stay. See others say that the fan does not last, heck I couldn't even get to to set up correctly.

The wife and I purchased this for the bedroom. The directional flow property of the design seemed to be what we needed, as only one of us really wanted the fan on at anytime. It fulfilled our expectations, only now after several months of use, it is REALLY noisy. It was much quieter when we first got it. I must admit, it gets an awful lot of use, so maybe it was not designed for such constant use. I am waiting for it to completely break down, and will replace it with a small "flippy" type fan, I've already purchased in anticipation.
That "flippy" only cost us $10 versus the $30+ I paid for this one. I thought for that price this would have had longer "longevity".

I owned this item for two years and when I retired I made the mistake of giving the fan away. My wife needed a fan that was small enough to fit in her area and powerful enough to work the way she wanted. This fan is perfect, it has two different speeds and and can be put in several positions. Great fan, a little pricey for it's size but well worth the price. Great merchant.

1.0 out of 5 stars Barely better than a hand fan, June 16, 2008

After reading the positive reviews for this desk fan, I promptly ordered it and was prepared to enjoy the rest of the summer in comfort. Upon receipt, I set-up the fan and waited for the coolness to hit me. It never happened. Even at the highest speed the unit couldn't even put out enough air flow to move the loose papers on my desk much less provide relief from the heat for me. Nice concept but it doesn't work; I'm still miserably uncomfortable. It's back to the drawing board for me.

I've had 2 of these and both became too loud after a couple of months use. I would not recommend these if you're bothered by a noisy fan.

This fan is a bit larger than I thought and it makes a loud sound. I also don't feel like I am getting the breeze that I would like, probably due to the design since the open line slots have terrible range and the wind is not strong enough. I replaced this fan with a smaller cool breeze personal fan that I found at my local CVS. The cool breeze had better range, stronger breeze, made less noise and was cheaper.
