Hard hitting., June 29, 2004
This review is from: Lasko Interview (Paperback)
This was a good beginning for Clay. But my biggest mistake was reading "Circle of Seven" and "Interview With the Devil" before I read this one. So, being a little spoiled with Mark Taylor's military background, along with tough personality, this was still good Clay Jacobsen quality. This is the beginning of Rick Treadway's story. It also is the end of the story for one Wade Bennett. It appears to be a suicide, and the case looks to be closing fast. Although you can see that it was his first book, he had a good rhythm going from the beginning. Now, while there is no Mark Taylor, there is Rick Treadway, and those who have read "Circle" and "Interview" prior to this will recognize his name. Like I said above, I made the mistake of reading the other 2 prior to this one. Well paced, well thought out, one I think that any fan of Clay Jacobsen will most certainly appreciate. One thing that was interesting enough was the lesson in this book itself. It was how Rick made a concrete commitment with Jesus, and his understanding the church as one. This is not only a good thriller, but a book for some who might have said, "That's the Pastor's job." It gives a good message that we are all called to minister. Good job, Clay!

Predictable...high school reading level...unconvinced, January 17, 2006
This review is from: Lasko Interview (Paperback)
When I picked up "Interview with the Devil", I had to admit I became an instant fan. As I regressed to this first novel, I noticed that the characters are not believable. I just found it a little hard to accept the fact that the former porn actress/drug abuser, would be accepted by Rick's friends with such willingness despite getting shot at, being in a car roll over, and forced out of their own homes.
Furthermore, they continually showed patience despite the danger this girl put them in. "We should wait until she is comfortable to reveal to us what kind of danger she is in" is what they said after all this violence.
As a Christian, I welcome the opportunity God gives me to share my faith with someone despite the circumstance. However, it is wise to use smarter judgement when witnessing to someone who is as emotionally unstable as this character was.
I also thought that the ending was rushed. You could tell where the ending was leading to unlike Jacobson's next two follow-ups.
In my opinion, skip the Lasko Interview and go straight to the Circle of Seven and Interview with the Devil.

A BOOK WITHOUT THE USUAL 4-LETTER WORDS SO PROMINENT IN THE GENERAL POPULATION OF READING TODAY LEAVES ONE WITH AN INCREDIBLE DESIRE TO HAVE MORE AND MORE OF THE SAME TYPE BOOKS. THIS IS TRULY READING THAT NOT ONLY HAS THE INTRIGUE OF MYSTERY, BUT IS ALSO INSPIRING IN A SPIRITUAL WAY, WHICH LEAVES ONE HUNGERING AND THIRSTING FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS. THANK YOU MR. JABOBSEN!
