Sound is good, look is good.

Even the av/out slot in the back isn't even a hoe or plug it just is printed in the plastic w no hook ups at all.
Deft
It was usually the loudness of the mids and highs that made the noise anyways.

When i first got the boombox i was amazed on the quality of it. After weeks of use it seemed to show no signs of damage whatsoever but after 10-20 min in the sun basically all the decals had started warping and the screen was basically unreadable. Yes its awesome but not very good for outdoors.

I've own the very first Ghetto Blasters in the late 70's and early 80's. I still have one of the early models of Lasonic that dates back in 1982. This new model the i-931X is just great! Don't expect lots of subsonic bass, but then let me remind you that none of the early Ghetto Blasters had any sub bass either. It was usually the loudness of the mids and highs that made the noise anyways. Subwoofers was something rare back in those days. Of course now we are used to hearing thumping bass from our car systems and home entertainment, so we do notice a difference when we hear these ghetto blasters of the past. They were all lacking that thumping bass--but anyways, it wasn't about that, it was who had the biggest with the most buttons and lights and etc...

The i-931X will not disappoint. It has all the flare from back in the day. I will try to collect the various different theme colors that are available right now.

I've shown it to both young and older people and they just love the look and also the plus side that we can connect an iPod or iTouch with it. Plus the USB and SD/MMC is just a bonus.

Just what I was looking for, the sound quality is good, not great, but this model (the 931x) handles my 2nd gen Ipod Touch perfectly (with the included adapter). It's also got an adapter to allow an iphone to work with it. It holds the ipod touch/iphone sideways in the "tape deck" and allows you to still use the ipod's own navigation (although it's tilted on it's side, so you don't have the same controls you normally have). You can also control it using the ghetto blaster's own controls, which are adequate. It also charges my Ipod touch, so it's supplying 5 volts via the ipod dock (2nd gen ipod touch can't charge from 12 volt) , and should be compatible with almost every ipod out there. It also allows regular ipods to go in vertically, so there are actually 2 ipod docks on it, but you can only use one at a time.

Sound quality:
So so. It sounds like a mediocre box from the '80s ( although better than most things that are available today)..not bad, but nothing to write home about. It does not hold up to the better boxes of the past, but that shouldn't be surprising. The treble frequencies are reproduced clearly with little or no harshness, the same for the midrange. Bass response seems to roll off at about 100-120Hz.
The good news is that it has separate bass and treble (-7 to +7 Db) controls, so your not limited to (often useless) pre-set eq settings.

Radio:
AM reception is improved over the older model (i931), though still not exactly great. It will pull medium level, and strong stations, but you can forget about anything weak or even slightly weak at all. Selectivity isn't that great either. I'd say it's less than average.
With an iPod in the dock of course it's much worse as they put of quite a bit of r.f.i. (static).
With that said it's still an improvement as the last model was practically deaf on AM.

The FM still overloads when close to a relatively strong station. It's not the most sensitive or selective, but it get's the job dome. Again less than average. It is capable of switching to mono, and that helps with fringe reception.

MP3:
The USB port reads your PMP/MP3 player like a disc (you can't use the controls on your player), and also charges the device (you may not want to do this if you are running "D" cells as it will drain them). The card slot works as it should and is HCSD (lager than 2GB) compatible.
Navigating is done by browsing though folders (F01 F02 ect.) and by clicking though ff (next) and rewind (back) just like a CD player. There is no menu or way to scroll through a list of files available.

I have received my lasonic I931 X and I love it. With the look and feel of an old school boombox, with the technology to use my ipod touch, I'm loving this radio. I can't wait for the bbq's and beach trips. I have no negative feedback to give. The sell was great. Shipping was done in two days and I recommend this box and the seller to anyone wanting to have fun with your music agaIn.
