nicely reproduced in great clarity, these are heart-warming stories for the whole family from an era that no longer is with us. Parents can watch these with their children without having to mute, fastforward, or even "ear muff" the kids. My 5 year old and 7 year old love the shows and we are collecting as many as we can. This and the "Christmas" collection are a joy to own...

You won't be disappointed with these episodes! Two episodes are from 1958 and the third from 1960. All episodes feature June Lockhart, Jon Provost, and Hugh Reilly. All episodes are b/w.

In the first episode (1958), Lassie falls in love with an old rocking chair. When the Martins send the chair to an auction, Lassie finds a way to get it back!

In episode two (1958), Timmy's Peace Patrol funds are stolen and Lassie uses her tracking skills to capture the thief. The Lone Ranger appears in the finale to congratulate Timmy for his success. Yippee!

In episode three (1960), Timmy and his mother visit the Grand Canyon. Timmy ventures onto a dangerous ledge alone but Lassie and a blind musician guide Timmy to safety.

The dvd is of excellent quality. The third episode includes wonderful location shots of the Grand Canyon. These are warm, wonderful stories that will delight all viewers.

I'm at a loss on how to review this DVD because I love LASSIE nd wish all the episodes were on DVD, even the ones I don't like. But as a representation of good episodes, this one falls rather flat! If you were going to have a DVD called "Best of the Lassie Show," you'd have to have the 3-parter "Lassie's Odyssey" on it, as this is the episode that most people cite as their favorite, including series actor Jon Provost!

"The Rocking Chair": Oh, dear, what a silly episode. Ruth donates a rocking chair Lassie has fallen in love with to a charity auction. Someone else buys it and Lassie steals it off the guy's porch! Yep, that's the entire story.

"Peace Patrol": Interesting episode, and not much seen until recently. "The Peace Patrol" was a gimmick for raising money via US Savings Bonds by kids joining the Lone Ranger's Peace Patrol and saving up their spending money to buy Savings Stamps, which could be converted into Savings Bonds eventually. The first student to get all his classmates to join the Peace Patrol will have a certificate given to him personally by the Lone Ranger and Silver, so Timmy is keen to win the prize. But surly classmate Frankie won't join--and then the money disappears and Frankie is the main culprit! Clayton Moore appears as the Lone Ranger--the Wrather Corporation produced both LASSIE and THE LONE RANGER.

"Lassie at the Grand Canyon": Makes you long for color filming. The best episode on the DVD, with great shots of the canyon, albeit in black and white, and of the mule ride. Yes, it was filmed on location.

I've had to take away two stars off because the producers of this DVD did not give a season one, two, three etc. of these Lassie TV episodes. It was Tommy Rettig who first played as Jeff Miller in the Lassie TV show, later to be followed by John Provost. When Tommy Rettig started to become too big and old for the TV series, he was replaced by John Provost. It was a nice transition from Tommy Rettig to John Provost. I loved the Lassie series as much as any kid back in the late 1950's to early 1960's. So I make an appeal to the producers of Lassie. Please put out DVD's of the seasons of the Lassie TV show.

This is a wonderful family show. The only thing I didn't like about these episodes is that Lassie didn't do enough stuff. She is so amazing in a lot of her shows. But overall, they are good, wholesome shows with a good storyline; just not the Best of the Lassie Shows.

Just as expected, copies of the old shows and suitable for the whole family to watch. This was bought for an 8 year old boy who loves the Lassie stories.

Okay - I love lassie as much as the next person - and I was really excited that we were going to introduce our children to a show my husband and I loved as children - but I have to say - the best of lassie's subject matter was about as exciting as watching paint dry -- if anyone is trying to do this for their kids - I would suggest buying something like the first season of flipper - was fantastic - my kids (10 and 6) loved it
