I remember Timmy and Lassie reruns from when I was a child and when looking for videos that would be appropriate for my own children, I came across these. My 8 year old daughter is a real animal lover and really has been enjoying these tapes. They are old-fashioned with the children speaking respectfully, no blood and gore, no nasty language. Sure the Mom is the stereotypical housewife (afterall, these were made in the 1950's when the majority of women were housewives), but the values are sound and the stories are sweet and entertaining. The 10 video set takes you on a progression from the first episode ever to the "Transition" from Jeff Miller to Timmy Martin as Lassie's owner. It is fun to watch the boys age from video to video. I think we will enjoy many hours of viewing with these and I'm glad we added them to our home video collection.

It was a such wonderful and precious tapes that I ever bought. I will buy second collections, which I found in Lassie website. It sounds like it's available someplace. I would like to get one for myself. I love it!

The dog you see in The Inheritance is the original collie who appeared in Lassie Come Home 1943 only this is 1954, 11 years later, The Lion is said to be the original MGM movie lion, the woman who plays bertha in watchdog was also the voice of Madame Mim im sword and the stone. In Yochim;s Christmas, Ellen Corby is Pearlie May, in the 70's she was Grandma Walton, Billy Hughes was Billy Joe, in Beaver Cleaver The Sheep Dog, he's chuck, in the club initation-a 1962 dennis the menace story, he's walter hooper, lloyd corrigan who plays santa and later mr. nicholson in gift of love also showed up on the new neighbors, a real mccoys story and in The Junior Pathfinders Ride Again, a dennis the menace story which is still being telecast, in the oddysey you will see alan hale jr. as someone else besides the skipper of gilligans island, one of the truckers in that story is richard reeves. He appeared in at least two dobie gillis stories as Officer Mulcahy, in mr. ed and the kiddy park, he's a pony ride ticket man, in the bully a 1962 dennis the menace story he's mr. kelly, diesel truck driver. The Christmas Story was telecast in december exactly 45 years ago, first time 7pm sunday, dec. 21, 1958. The appearence of Don in space traveler and jim spintz in the mascot shows you there are other kids on tv aside from the ones who appear on leave it to beaver, In the mascot roy campanella portrays the kind of african american character you wont see in a modern movie, no f words, no idiocy, just smart and respectable. I myself prefer the lion a lassie story that proves every episode want a tearjerker or hearwarmer to more modern fare, today sitcoms to me seem to have no real story, just one liners and lots of laughing. June Lockhart may be a stereotypical housewife but not ellen miller, ellen could be sarcastic, whu dont you eat that beef stew with your hands thats real old fashioned, just like the cavemen or headstrong, same old story, no place for a woman, well just where is there a place for a woman, no dont tell me washing, ironing, and darning your old socks. Unlike June Cleaver, Ellen Miller isnt a sitcom mom. also in transition, you'll see a young Cloris Leachman, I hope you like this trivia

Buy a video player that plays NTSC VHS tapes in addition to PAL VHS tapes and then you can play all the American tapes which is a far greater range than any England has to offer. These machines are very common - just check the specification before buying.

To anybody who hasnt i suggest you buy this video and youll see why even if youre not a lassie fans, why the jump the shark webpage says jeff miller was a real kid and you'll also get to see space travler and the mascot which i have stated previously portray timmy martin not as an adorable angel as he seems to be in Christmas Story or even as a super boy scout, in the tv story joey which isnt on this tape he gives lassie away to a blind boy but you'll see him-at least to me- as a regular non-cute non-bratty kid in space traveler and the mascot, in the mascot you see an african-american portrayed positively in 1959, So buy this , it may change any previous ideas you have about lassie, jeff and especially Timmy

On this tape my faves are the lion, the mascot, space traveler. The Lion is an example of a lassie episode that wasnt designed to make you cry or say Ahhhh, isnt that sweet. however, Christmas Story is definitely such an episode, for anybody who felt timmy was too good to be true, and some who see christmas story might feel that way, im sure you;ll see him as a regular kid when you watch space traveler and the mascot. Space Traveler to me is better than the treasure, the storyline there could inspire putdown jokes, there's no greater treasure than the pure love in lassie's heart. Also you'll see a lot of outdoor footage in the oddysey all made in a time when camcorders were not existent. Previously i was asked why no voting buttons, i dont know what that means as is this is merely my second review, i just got started doing this

Can you tell me where I can buy a collection of Lassie videos in ENGLAND. I've search the net but can't find anywhere. They are for a friend that has learning difficulties and he loves to watch Lassie if it's shown on the television.
