The first to have access to the Gamba Papers, Origo mined this family archive to tell the story of Byron’s last love affair, a domestic triangle consisting of the poet, his nineteen year old mistress, Countess Guiccioli, and her husband.

Great way to learn about Lord Byron and his world,

This review is from: The Last Attachment: The Story of Byron & Teresa Guiccioli (Paperback)
I will confess, I am a fan of all things Italian, but did not know much about the talented and exotic Lord Byron before reading this book. It really made an impression on me - through his letters and his diaries, one gets a very clear sense of who he was and of the times he lived in. I wanted to read it because the story of Byron and Teresa begins in Ravenna, one of my favorite places in Italy but continues across Italy, the rest of Europe and on to its sad conclusion in Greece. I would recommend it for anyone who wants to wade into Byron, or to feel thoroughly immersed in early 18th century Europe.
