This review is from: Last Balkan Tango (Audio CD)
Boris Kovac & Ladaaba Orchest are from Yugoslavia. Ladaaba stands for La Danza Apocalypsa Balcanica.

The songs, as a whole, have a feeling of last moment, a feeling of something important terminating. This is the music of the last party. On "Begin-ing", we are asked "to imagine there is only one starry night left till the end of the world... What would we do?" Really, I don't know. What would I do? What would you do? Something did terminate but not everything. The last song takes us on a new journey to a vague destination. Maybe for the better, maybe for the worse, but all is not terminated.

These Balkan tangos are, I don't know how to say it otherwise, they are important. They got here just in time. They have tastes of tango, gypsy music, avant-garde jazz and rumba. There is a good measure of energy and hope, along with the bittersweet sadness.

It has been a long time since I bought a CD with that much integrity and sense of completness.
