Book Description

September 7, 1996
Unlike other books on the subject, which are filled with dry incorporation rules or accounting practices, The Last Best Hope combines step-by-step information with the human side of business – “a blood sport every bit as dramatic as life and death itself.” Using the case histories of the many entrepreneurs he interviewed across Canada, McQueen lays out the methods that have succeeded for these self-starters and – even more importantly – shows how to avoid failure once a business has been established. The engaging text is filled with tips from the top, plus secrets of both success and failure as lived and learned by those who have been through the wars.

Editorial Reviews

Review

“A must-read for those contemplating going into business for themselves.”
–Peter Newman, Maclean’s

“In a field crowded with guides to being one’s own boss, The Last Best Hope stands out as sound enough to be a classroom text and clear enough to be understood by anyone.…Case histories are presented with the understanding and clarity of advanced business school classes.”

This review is from: The Last Best Hope: How to Start and Grow Your Own Business (Paperback)
I am interested in starting my own busines. However, you can only learn so much by talking to friends. This book gives you names and numbers of where to obtain the necessary information when starting your own business. It also tackles hard issues, such as how do you get the brother-in-law out of your business. I've read it twice already and am currently on my third read. Everytime I read it I find something new. For those people who want to start their own business, but don't know how to start or where, this book is a must, and will stay with you from start-up to multi-million dollar corporation
