5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet paranormal--and a keeper!, September 1, 2004
This review is from: Her Last Chance (soulmates) (Mass Market Paperback)
Young Mallory Chevelle leaves her privileged life in Narwahl to search for a horse which, according to legend, is a unicorn. She intends to fulfill the legend: Return the horse to the land it once roamed so that it will bless the people--including her ill father--with good fortune.

Mallory's search leads her to Wyoming where she meets a cowboy named Chase Wells and a horse named Peggy Sue. She believes that Peggy Sue is the missing Chevelle Cornelle, and finds herself falling in love with Chase. But Chase believes that they aren't supposed to be together; while Mallory must stay chaste and pure of heart in order to tame Peggy Sue and to fulfill the legend.

Stephanie's Review:

"Her Last Chance" is a sweet story of a man who is a lost soul and a woman who believes in destiny. I didn't find the plot predictable at all. As I read, I had doubts as to whether the legend (and Peggy Sue) would drive Mallory and Chase together or pull them apart. The paranormal aspect of the plot is minor, yet without it... the story would fall apart.

This book also boasts one of the prettiest covers I've seen in a long time--and it's true to the story. Too bad it didn't win the Artemis award at the 2003 RWA National Conference. (It got my vote!)

This book has a permanent home on my keeper shelf.
