Brilliant heart gripper,
By
This review is from: The Last Child (Paperback)
From the very beginning, you care. The boy is withdrawn, tragic, obsessed with the loss of his sister, who disappeared a year ago. His mother has given up on reality, hiding in drugs and drink given her by the town's richest man who had lusted after her. Her husband has also disappeared, apparently driven by guilt over forgetting to pick up his daughter from school. The mainstay of it all is the boy, who refuses to give up searching for her. Detective Hunt is himself worn down by his failure to find the girl. Two obsessions in this book are woven into a fabulous tale by John Hunt.
