5.0 out of 5 stars Roy Orbison THE LAST CONCERT
This CD is absolutely brilliant. However after researching this concert, I find that the song "Runing Scared" has been omitted from this track. I know for certain that Roy did include this song in his last concert I would like to know why the song was left out. I have friends that were there and they said that Roy sang "Running Scared" in his last live performance on...

3.0 out of 5 stars Poor Mixing Mars Record of Last Performance

I was happy to have the opportunity to purchase a recording of Roy Orbison's last concert, but I was almost as disappointed when I heard it. The mix on this recording puts everything but Orbison's voice in the forefront--the supporting singers, the instrumentalists, everyone else. We know that Orbison's voice was still strong because he had just worked on the Traveling Wilburys project, so it is a shame that we could not hear him showcased just one more time. It's a shame that there could not have been a latter-day "unplugged" event instead.

I know for certain that Roy did include this song in his last concert I would like to know why the song was left out. I have friends that were there and they said that Roy sang "Running Scared" in his last live performance on December 4,1988. I feel cheated that I didn't get to hear Roy sing this song for the last time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Roy remains still, the greatest singer in R&R!, June 4, 2009
This review is from: The Last Concert (Audio CD)
I had known of the existence of this recording for a numbmer of years. I had heard people say several times that Roy's performance was as strong as any other live recording he had made. I ordered it because I am a fan and collect all of his music. However once I received it and listened several times, I realized how well it chronicleds the greatest singer in the history of Rock & Roll, even as he was about to leave us. This is an essential piece of Roy's musical legacy due to his power as a performer and the significance of its timing in his all too brief a career.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful and significant release on Roy O!, August 10, 2010
This review is from: The Last Concert (Audio CD)
This Last Concert release is essential for any Roy collection. It shows him in fine vocal form, just a short time from his tragic and early passing. There are so many reasons to own this. It has always been in such limited availabilty, which is all that kept me from owning it before now. You'll not regret ordering it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Tribute to the Soul of Rock and Roll!, August 10, 2010
This review is from: The Last Concert (Audio CD)
I am so happy to have this great piece of history in my collection. Not only is it worth owning simply because it is the last performance of the late great Roy Orbison before his tragic death, but everything from Roy's performance to the sound quality is phenomenal! Totally worth it, I'll be listening to this for a while!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Saw This Concert, August 15, 2010

This review is from: The Last Concert (Audio CD)
I saw this concert and the thing I remember was the crowd reaction after his first song, he looked around like he was surprised, that night was high energy and that feed Roy's performance.

I also remember him being thin, dressed in black with a pony tail, he looked cool and different to say the least than I had expected.

When I went to work the next day my co-worker who went with her husband and my wife said guess who died? I was thinking off someone at work, she said Roy, I was thinking work and I said Roy? she said yeah Roy! I must have looked puzzled because she said Roy, you just saw him Saturday night, my jaw dropped to say the least.

He played at the front row theater, which by the way is not in Akron Ohio as the cover states, some confusing there I believe.

Anyway I will be buying this CD for my collection, I will always be able to remember that night. I am not sure but I think Carl Perkins opened for him that night, or perhaps that was when I saw Jerry Lee Lewis at the front row.

Anyway Cleveland Rocks! You name it and they have played there. Large concerts or small theaters like the Front Row that held about 2,000 people.

The Front Row is gone now, but so many great acts played there, as well as the places theater downtown. An era sad to say gone by.

This is a great CD to own. A great voice, and like Elvis, one of a kind.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank You Barbara And Roy JR. !, June 19, 2009

I've been saying his voice only got "better" with age, rather than what we normally expect, since his passing 21 years ago, and now I have the proof ! What a phenominal talent, a gift from God to reach into people's souls and move them with only your voice. Roy's singing with the Angels these days, and God's loving it. Hope he and George are jamming too !

5.0 out of 5 stars What a surprise!, August 27, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Last Concert (Audio CD)
I bought this CD out of a kind of morbid curiosity, and thinking that it might suffer from poorly recorded sound because of the impromptu nature of the live recording. I also assumed Roy would sound a bit below par - after all, he passed away two days later. I also wondered if he might dog it a bit because he was in Akron. What a surprise, then, to hear Roy in fine voice. I've never heard a better rendition of "Crying." You could almost make the case that that song, that night, killed him - it sure sounds like a man in mortal mental and physical anguish, which is the point of the song. So "The Last Concert" is far from a curiosity, and is more frightening because of that. After all, if death can come so suddenly after something as magnificent as this Akron concert, we all should be afraid. This CD is a testament to the fact that Roy gave it his all, no matter the venue, and no matter how he may have felt physically. To hear him is to realize that he valued his art and he valued you - loved you - the listener.
