I really enjoyed it and everything about it.,

Because I am so interested in the Civil War, and the years and events before and after it, I really loved this book. Gilbert Morris became one of my favorite authors when I first read the book Drummer Boy At Bull Run, and it intrigued me to read the rest of his books. I am just starting out on the House Of Winslow books, and I like them already.

i have read up to book 15 in this series and i love them, but this one is my favorite for many reasons. One it take place before and during the civil war. It talks about all the struggle people had to face during that war. You also get caught up in the family history of th Winslows. I can't wait to read the next one.

Ok, I started reading the Winslow series, and I'd have to say that this one was one of my favorites because it had action! If you like action, the Civil War, and romance; read this book!

Absolutely Loving it!,
This review is from: The Last Confederate: 1860 (The House of Winslow #8) (Paperback)
As an avid reader of Gilbert Morris books, I have been reading the house of the Winslow series for about a month. I have loved every single one of them, but this one is one of the best ones so far. I love how the fact that Gilbert can create such stories, yet they all still have 1 reason for being written. He finds so many different ways to show how God works and every one of them is awesome!

The groundwork of this book does flow a little slow. Keep on reading because it is well worth it. Morris gives you a very good account of the life before and during the Civil War. There is a nice romance of the characters that tell the story. The author also gives you some of the history of the Winslow family. I think you will be looking for some of his other books. We continue to follow Sky and Rebekah Winslow in the first book in the series that centers around the Civil War. They have moved from Oregon City to Virginia where they now own a plantation. Their family has also grown with the addition of four children ranging in ages.
Thad Novak enters the Winslow's lives when he travels from the north and gets hired on to work on the plantation. What the Winslow's didn't know at the time was that Thad was actually looking for their plantation. Thad doesn't understand life on a plantation and befriends one of the slaves that lives on the Winslow plantation. When war starts he soon joins but on the side of the Confederacy. Can the south trust him when he was a Northerner? Will the young Winslow men fight against their relatives from the North? It was interesting to see a northerner's view on slavery when he came to a plantation. I also enjoyed hearing about how some southern people didn't technically agree with slavery but felt it was a necessity to grow their cotton. This book wasn't as action packed as some of the other books in the series and I felt it was a little slow starting out. But overall a good continuation to the series.

The Last Confederate,
This review is from: The Last Confederate: 1860 (The House of Winslow #8) (Paperback)
I have never read a better historical series that spans over so many different eras and time periods. The Last Confederate was no exception! By the middle of the first page I was completely captured by the story of Thad. I wanted to know where he came from and how he knew the Winslow's. I also loved finding out the rest of Sky and Rebekah's story. The description of war was well done without being to in depth. I as always, can't wait to read the next story in this series. The House of Winslow series is one that shouldn't be missed by any history lover!
