Steps may be gone forever now, but this CD (oh excuse me, CD's) will live on forever! I may not own every single Steps single ever made (I'm more of a quality over quantity kinda guy) but I can say that this album delivers! Steps may be gone forever now, but this CD (oh excuse me, CD's) will live on forever! I may not own every single Steps single ever made (I'm more of a quality over quantity kinda guy) but I can say that this album delivers! It has songs that were released as B sides, remixes and other special songs! I wish though the album dropped some of the W.I.P. mixes, because some of the other remixes done by others are wicked (ever hear the Here and Now Almighty remix? Fantastic, but absent from this collection), never the less, the remixes here are very good. Overall the album is very strong though, with the first disc being my favorite. I love the songs "To Be Your Hero" and "Human Touch". If you want to hear some really cool lesser known songs get this collection! A must for die hard fans, fans of club CD's and even skeptics. My only gripe: not enough remixes (and way too many W.I.P. mixes!), and some of the songs should have been released as singles on their own merit. Steps will truly shine on as the Kings and Queens of British Pop Music!

3.0 out of 5 stars The Last Dance, February 19, 2005

UK pop group Steps took the world by storm in the late '90s and early 2000's with their brand of neo-ABBA dance pop. Unlike most of their peers, the mixed gender-quintet didn't sex themselves up or aim for streed cred by delivering weak R&B imitations. Instead, they proudly strapped on their dancing shoes and partied the night away in their own bubblegum disco fashion. Steps scored one international hit after the next, and racked up two UK No.1's and fourteen Top 10 entries before abruptly splitting in December 2001. The Last Dance comes nearly a year after the group's demise, and really it only serves as a last-minute cash-in. The Last Dance spans two discs- the first one filled with B-sides and unreleased tracks, the second padded with exclusive remixes of their biggest hits. Some of the unreleased songs are quite solid- "Human Nature", previously found only on the Japanese edition of their album Buzz, ranks among the best they've done, and their take on ABBA's "Lay All Your Love on Me" is surprisingly good (probably because the group borrowed so heavily from ABBA's style that actually covering one of their songs is so effortless). Others, like "Too Busy Thinking About My Baby" and "Why" aren't quite up to par, but that's precisely why they never made the final cuts. Disc 2 only works in a club setting, as the remixes are all at least six minutes in length and don't make any remarkable improvements upon the originals. Nothing too spectacular, and certainly nothing as comprehensive as their Gold- Greatest Hits collection, but for the gotta have it all fan, it'll do just fine.

4.0 out of 5 stars Last Dance, Wicked Dance is more like it..., March 4, 2003
This review is from: Last Dance (Audio CD)
Whoa! This album seems like a vastly over-rated W.I.P. marketing ploy, but guess what? It's not! Sure, some other remixes would be cool, but the one's on here are very cool. Of course, remixes aren't the only things on this special double album, oh no, it also includes "Why", "Lay All Your Love On Me", and "Too Busy Thinking About My Baby" and many more. Not really a "Best Of Steps" (that came out last year, and if you don't have it what are you waiting for?!) but more of a special collectors edition of the best remixes (where's the Almighty version of Here And Now?) of Steps (what there are are other songs on it?????)This 2-disc collection if perfect for a anytime gift, perfect for that "Clubber", or a natural born Steps fan. Invest in it!

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Last Dance (Audio CD)
OK, let's just say I have been a huge Steps fan ever since i saw them on the Disney Channel. I have collected all of their eight albums (from the US & the UK) and all their 19 singles (UK). This is pretty much just gathering all of their songs, but its really good. Here's my review:

OVERTURE 10/10 A really good intro to a fantastic CD. Orchestra.
TOO BUSY THINKIN' ABOUT MY BABY 8/10 Not my favorite, but its OK.
TO BE YOUR HERO 3/10 I mean come on! Horrible.
BABY DON'T DANCE (WIP RADIO MIX) 10/10 The best song and its new!
HUMAN TOUCH (WIP) 10/10 Originally a Japan bonus track. Great.
I KNOW HIM SO WELL 10/10 A really good ABBA song, remodeled.
LAY ALL YOUR LOVE ON ME 7/10 H's song on the 3rd Tour, a remake!
YOU'LL BE SORRY (WIP RADIO MIX) 10/10 The 15th single remix. A+
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY 9/10 As on Platinum Christmas album.
WHY? 8/10 Really slow, from the Better Best Forgotten single.
MARS AND VENUS (WE FALL IN LOVE AGAIN)(WIP) 10/10 From BUZZ.
JUST LIKE THE FIRST TIME (WIP) 10/10 Great danceable song!!! A+
ONE FOR SORROW (SLEAZESISTERS) 9/10 The best remix!
DEEPER SHADE OF BLUE (SLEAZESISTERS) 7/10 It gets really old.
5,6,7,8 (WIP 2002) 6/10 There's like no singing! Just beats.

4.0 out of 5 stars Only for the true 'Steps' fan., July 9, 2004

I don't think I can remember an album around with so many remixes on it. This album is definately only one for a true 'Steps' fan. I am not big on remixes but some of them are done very well where others seem a bit over the top. This album has some good tracks on the first disc that have not been included on previous albums, such as 'Too Busy Thinking About My Baby','Why?','I Know Him So Well' and a great Christmas track 'Merry Xmas Everybody'. Some of these and others have only previously be released as B-side tracks on CD-singles.

5.0 out of 5 stars This baby DOES dance!, March 12, 2003
This review is from: Last Dance (Audio CD)
I already have the British and the Aussie versions of the Last Dance, but when I found out that this Japanese version has a bonus track, I just had to get my hands on it! This Last Dance is full of exclusive remixes of "Human Touch", "Just Like The First Time", "Mars And Venus" and other W.I.P. mixes, it also has the "One For Sorrow" and "Deeper Shade Of Blue" Sleazesisters Anthem Edits (Not to mention some really hard to find other songs, all on disc 1!). Disc two has 10 W.I.P. remixes of old favorites ("Tragedy", "After The Love Has Gone", and "Better Best Forgotten", just to name a few), but it also has the super-exclusive remix of "Stomp" by Dance*Man (the Cosmic Funk Mix) which has a wicked hip-hop feel to it, very original. All in all, whether this is your first Last Dance version, or your second, you have got to pick it up! The collector's value alone is worth it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Extra Track dance man's stomp version, May 21, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Last Dance (Audio CD)
The remix of the dance man's stomp version is not all that great. It actually dosen't sound like steps because it is too rap related and it just dosn't sound like a Steps song. All you hear is alot of base and you cannnot hardly hear the steps members singing. I bought the japanese stomp single with that remix and I am very sorry I did. So don't waste your money just buy the original.
