Brilliant!,

I discovered Simon Posford a couple years ago by accident and was immediately hooked. I thought he peaked in '98 with Are You Shpongled, but this album grabbed me and hasn't let go. He and Benji Vaughan have incredible synergy. The Last Days of Gravity is an amazing technical achievement and a beautiful piece of music. I don't know how many times I've listened to it, but if I'd bought it on cassette like in the days of yore it'd already be showing serious signs of wear. I've ripped it to mp3 and MiniDisc, just so I could emphasize different aspects of the recording. It's that intricate: you can chart your own course through this little sonic adventure. In fact, these guys have inspired me to finally take the plunge and buy some serious audio gear for my home.
I can't recommend this album highly enough. Buy it, put it on, sit back, and enjoy the ride! It truly is a modern masterpiece.

It Grows On You,

Being a fan of Simon Posford's music in all of it's incarnations and having loved the previous YB album, I could not wait to get my hands on this one. I am not sure why it has taken so long to be released, but I finally broke down and downloaded the MP3 version. I was really looking for that Storm Thorgerson cover art though, so may have to get the "hardcopy" when it is finally released.
Until then, I am happy with this digital version. Boy am I happy! :'D I admit upon first listen it did not grab me. It is very different from YB's first album, and most of what I've heard Benji Vaugh and Simon Posford. And at first I thought that was bad. But repeat listens revealed how wrong I my first impression was. It is very different, but in a good way. The starkly digital trance music both artists are known for is almost non-existant here. It has been replaced with a more organic and human sound, one I find quite appealing. There are shades of Celtic Cross here, and perhaps even a touch of psycadelica a la Amorphous Androgynous, but in a good way. ;'] Whatever it is, it is captivating, and something you'll put on repeat and not tire of. At least that has been my experience so far. There is always something new to hear. While it has not flat out dance numbers, it will certainly get you going between the more laid back tracks. Pick this up, it is a downtempo electronica gem.

A masterpiece, but don't download,
This review is from: The Last Days Of Gravity (MP3 Download)
This is one of the most amazing musical experiences ever and I HIGHLY recommend you DO NOT download this album- instead, spend the extra money and buy the CD when it's available.
I'll keep this review short: it's hard to describe just how amazing this album is. It is leaps and bounds ahead of the previous Younger Brother record. It's also moodier and more relaxed, with rich layers of sound that will take multiple listens to notice. My only (very minor) gripe is that all but 2 song transitions are not mixed but instead are just silence. Other than that, this is absolutely phenomenal, topped (in my opinion) only just barely by Shpongle's (another Simon Posford project) "Nothing lasts but nothing is lost."

Younger Brother, if you didn't know, at the forefront of psytrance music, led by Simon Posford (aka Hallucinogen). His other projects, such as Shpongle, are absolutely incredible, and are absolutely worth purchasing. This album and YB's previous album, A Flock of Bleeps, though, are without a doubt not only Posford's best work, but the best albums ever created. Period. I know that sounds like quite a stretch, and I'm a HUGE fan all kinds of music, ranging from the Beatles and Pink Floyd all the way to Beethoven, but once I heard this music I knew that it simply cannot be topped. It goes beyond music, eliciting visual, touch, and other sensory stimulation. When listened to with the right friends (I listened to both albums with my friend Lucy ;-), these albums will FOREVER CHANGE HOW YOU LISTEN TO MUSIC. It is stylish in ways that no other music has ever achieved, it is creative beyond anything to come out in YEARS, and and it is more unique and engaging than ANYTHING in this genre, or any for that matter. This is not a paid review, and I am in no way benefiting from posting this review - this music is really that good. The key is finding a HIGH QUALITY stereo (the best you can possibly find), turning down the lights, hooking up with your special friends, and listening to the albums FROM START TO FINISH. Be safe, be smart, and KEEP THE VOLUME UP!!! ENJOY!!!!

A new genre of music... and it's here to stay,

Wow. My first thoughts when I heard this album was wow. I just recently got into the whole Psybient genre, first being introduced to it by Shpongle. Naturally I gravitated (hehe) to Younger Brother which is Simon Posford's.. well, younger brother. I really enjoyed their first album "A Flock full of Bleeps" for what it was. A hard electronic album with tons of samples and weird (and therefore awesome) sound effects. Clearly they took that to the next level on this album with live drums, and guitars. And boy does it pay off! If you like bands like Pink Floyd, Radiohead and other "progressive" rock bands, you will really enjoy this. There is not a weak track in the album, it is almost 70 minutes and goes by amazingly fast. If I had to pick a favorite though, it would be "All I Want" which is clearly Pink Floyd influenced.

Brilliant Album.
In some ways similar to Sphongle but less hectic easier listening. I would recommend this to any lover of electronic music. Simon is a master at work

Another Posford classic. This time in the guise of Younger Brother with Benji Vaughn. They serve up an absolutely beautiful album, deep, dubby and full of incredible production I have been listening to this non-stop since I purchased it.

The fact that EVERY reviewer so far has given this 5 stars should tell you something. Then, read all the gushing language (all of which I agree with), and you know you're really onto something here. I discovered Simon Posford through Shpongle's latest about a year ago. Ineffable Mysteries... is absolutely dumbfounding, but it has a pretty high "weirdness factor," and is a bit more psychedelic and daring than this one. Last Days Of Gravity has grown on me though, and I now regard it as the 2nd best music CD ever produced. Due to its lower "weirdness factor," it may be Simon's most accessible recording; however, it is still extremely rich, textured, varied, modern, etc... all the things you'd expect from Simon. The prior Younger Brother "A Flock of Bleeps" is about 4 years older, but still has several excellent pieces on par with these. Don't bother with Hallucinogen (Simon's earlier project), except for "In Dub," which is unlike other Hallucinogen, very similar to Ott's "Blumenkraft"... excellent in a more dubby style. I am absolutely drooling over the new Younger Brother that is about to be released. I haven't been this excited about a new release since Pink Floyd's "The Wall" in 1980!

It amazes me that after 40+ years of buying and listening to music, (and becoming very jaded and disheartened in the last few years), that I can still come across a band that warms my heart and puts a big smile on my face, and most importantly sounds fresh and exciting. These guys do all the above in spades, and to find
that their earlier cd (A flock of bleeps) is as fresh and inventive and its 8 years old. I am busting at the seams for their new cd (vaccine)to be released, only days to go, again I'm a kid at christmas. This is electronica/dance music if you must have a tag, but it is sooo much more. These guys are my big find for 2011.
