5.0 out of 5 stars Well Balanced and Informative, October 30, 2007
For all of the books written about the "End Times"; most are written from one perspective, alienating and discounting the other views. Lightner, lays all of the views on the table, and does well not make any particular view sound stupid. The best point he makes is that; no matter what view you believe, we all need to behave in loving ways toward each other.

5.0 out of 5 stars Balanced view, May 29, 2005

This review is from: Last Days Handbook: Revised and Updated (Paperback)
In The Last Days Handbook, Mr. Lightner does a very good job of explaining a variety of views of eschatology. He explains the amillennial, millennial, and pre-millennial views of the end times. He then expands on the last describing the pre-tribulation, mid-trib, post-trib, pre-wrath and a couple of other views of when the rapture will occur. If that's all he did, his work would be invaluable to the layman but he goes further.

He explains the advantages and disadvantages of each view and how closely they hold to scripture. He also lists prominent theologians that hold to the various views.

This book wasn't written to convince you that one view is better than the others (although I think it's obvious to anyone with an open mind). Instead, it provides the background information so that you can better perform your own research and come to your own conclusions. The book does exactly what it's supposed to do and it does it in a way that is neither argumentative nor condescending.

Highly recommended.
