Mr. Scarface is back... but for how long,
By J. Highsmith (Mitchellville, Maryland United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Last of a Dying Breed (Audio CD)
Ladies and gentlemen, the Geto Boys' finest, Mr. Scarface is back to bless us with his 6th solo offering. Scarface has always given us the 5th Ward's finest of hits: "Scarface", "Now I Feel Ya", "I Seen A Man Die", "Money N The Power" & "Hand Of The Dead Body" w/Ice Cube to name a few. "The Last Of A Dying Breed" has Brad Jordan getting a few things off his chest and leaving his fans with what might be his last CD. Scarface is now the president of the newly formed Def Jam South and is trying to concentrate on more things than just his music. "The Last Of A Dying Breed" gets off to a good start with the title track. Scarface always takes advantage of the time he has in a song to let his fans know what's on his mind. The first single, "It Ain't Part 2" produced by Erick Sermon is also a reminiscent of old Scarface funk jams of the past like "Let Me Roll". One thing that is different on this CD is the guest appearances. With the exception of "My Homies", Scarface has always kept the guest appearances on his CD to a minimum. On this CD you get a little taste of everthing. One of my favorite songs is the collaboration that Scarface does with UGK, "They Down With Us". The song takes the beat from Boogie Down Productions' "I'm Still #1" and makes it a freestyle Southern style. Other gems are "And Yo" w/Redman & The Outlaws, "Conspiracy Theory", "O.G. To Me" w/Jayo Felony, Kurupt & Daz, "Watch Ya Step" and "Look Me In My Eyes". Any Scarface fan would want to get this CD, who knows this could actually be his last OR he could pull a Too Short on us. Stay tuned.

This review is from: Last of a Dying Breed (Audio CD)
Back again for the legend 2 and a half years after his worst "solo" effort, "My Homies" he brings you his 6th solo album. This is not his best album but still very strong & better than 85% of the rap albums out today. It's probably my 3rd or 4th favorite of hi sfirst 8 solo albums. When Face drops an album there is always one certainty, it'll be a very good album or a classic, this one is very good. His lyrics are as usual Great and deep. The production is good as with all his albums, done by Mr. Lee, Face himself, Mike Dean & N.O. Joe. It has no songs I skip, 2 that are ok, 2 classics, and 9 good or great songs. Has a little more guests then he usually does but they do a good job. A must have rap album.

cash money & No limit need to copy off this,

This review is from: Last of a Dying Breed (Audio CD)
Let me clear somethin up from the beginning: i do not like South hip hop. I do not like Cash Money. I Do not like No Limit. But this cd right here is somethin different.Look at the cd cover. No diamonds, no wine glasses, no limousines, no hummers. Plain text with a picture of a baby inside of a mothers stomach. A hot album is born. From start to finish, this is one of my favorite albums. "Last Of A Dying Breed" starts things off well. "Down With Us" featurin UGK is jus as ill as the original. The rest of the cd packs more heat. Cuttin all the crap this is one of the best cds from the south. Everyone should own this gem from the former Geto Boys member.
