Great new Author,

This is one of the best mystery books I have read. Had me locked to it till the end. Comes extremely close to the writings of J A Jance and Tony Hillerman. If you like them, you'll love "The Last Grave"!!

Have just finished reading Jon Dorrough's The Last Grave...... and WOW! I picked up the book and couldn't put it down until I'd finished it because, right from the first paragraph, I was afraid the characters would go on with the plot without me and I might miss something!!! A fabulous read with just the right mixture of fact and fiction together with a wonderful descriptive balance which creates such a vivid moving picture in the reader's mind. I feel as though I've been there!

The Last Grave was suspenseful, with several twist to keep you on your toes. Mr. Dorrough's characters and his knowledge of the southwest and the different Native Americans tribes made you feel like you were standing and seeing what had happen. I hope he is writting more mystery books with the same characters. Selena Clements

Well done!,

Excellent character development and a plot that had me reading into the wee hours. Jon has captured a setting right here in America that is foreign to many of us, and as intriguing as the suspense that drives the story. I am an avid murder-mystery fan, and this did not disappoint. Lots of good foreshadowing that resolved itself in surprising and believable ways. I would recommend that a good script writer take a look. It would make a great movie for the big screen or TV.

The story line is absolutely intriguing, suspensful and entertaining. Reading about Martha Fallingwater, an American Indian, and her investigation of stolen Indian artifacts was fascinating to me. I was in the book, walking right along with her. Her friend, Bobby is also an American Indian and one of the best trackers in the country. His skills take Martha and her FBI associate on a dangerous trail to find the thieves. I want very much to see a sequel to this book. Reading about the 3 main characters left me wanting to know more about their lives and I hope Mr. Dorrough is putting pen to paper right now on that project!

Not Just For Arizonians,

This review is from: The Last Grave (Paperback)
The Last Grave takes the reader on a journey throughout the Arizona desert, trails, cities, and small towns. Living in Arizona, I became familiar again with places I had long forgotten. However, anyone from anywhere can learn and appreciate the culture of the Southwest and of Native Americans through the pages of this book.Jon Dorrough has created an excellent first novel which, hopefully, will be a part of a series. The main characters have the qualities that would lend themselves to additional stories and adventures.

This book grabbed my attention from the beginning. I could not put it down until I finished it. The story transported me to the area of Tucson, AZ and the Indian reservations there. I felt like I was part of the team with Martha Fallingwater and Rudy Pemberlake in trying to locate the bad guys. This was a well written book that could have been very believable. I look forward to more books from Mr. Dorrough. Great job and keep them coming!

Fantastic First Book,
By Suzanne P. Spann "SPS" (Smithfield, VA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Last Grave (Paperback)
A friend recommended this book to me, and I have to tell you that Mr. Dorrough has created in his first book a smart, savvy heroine. Martha Fallingwater is Native American and as a Marine LT she served one tour in Iraq and two in Afgjanistan. She was injured and later discharged, and she is currently with the BLM. She is also an expert at Kenpo Karate. The story is a mystery, involving the murder of a museum curator, and introduces Bobby Espinoza, an Apache and a Shadow Wolf. You need to google "Shadow Wolf" and find out what an elite organization they are; better yet, read this novel. Mr. Dorrough's extensive knowledge of the area, the people who live there and the workings of the government agencies assigned to the area shines through. This book was a joy to read, and I've recommended it to a large number of friends who are constantly on the lookout for new, gifted writers. You will not be disappointed in this book; I can hardly wait for the sequel.
